Plastic on the back seats is odd. But I kinda like it. My two year old hitting the back seats and wearing out the fabric is frustrating so I think I wouldn't mind that option lol.

Congrats on the new ride! Looks great!

I'm thinking of waiting for the Mazda CX-5 diesel to be available, but looking at the photos of the Elantra GT that will be available first has me wondering.

Tell me about it. I had those plastic protectors that you can install on the back of your seats and they got shredded in two years by my kids. This year I had to buy full seat covers because their legs are longer and the plastic protectors weren't cutting it.
I think Hyundai's idea is great for a family car and I wish my Mazda had it.

I am not a huge fan of the exterior but the interior is nice on those. I have been in 1 or 2 since they came out and I generally like them overall. White is always the best color

excellent car and good price, i would have just forked over a little more for a limited model, but the smaller diameter wheels will save a little down the line for replacement tires.

Looks great inside and out. Congrats on your purchase.

Anyone with kids under 12 will appreciate plastic on the back sides of the front seats. They work perfect. Chrysler has been doing this for several years. Ford hasn't caught on yet (at least not in mine).

I know it's been talked about before but you'd be better sanity wise to just wait at least 10k-20k for the transmission. You would dump it now and if you did a UOA it would be the same numbers again in a week from use.
The oil thing has been discussed to death so I'll just say if you are that worried use a synthetic 5w20 because honestly in hot weather that is where the 5w30 is headed anyway. No sense killing fuel economy for little if any benefit. I mean unless there is an autobahn in NC I don't know about

Seems to handle well, Its my wifes car so i haven't been in it without her ( so i could really test the handling). We drove it along side a kia forte. The forte seem to ride smoother, the elantra had a stiffer sportier suspension.

Read the owner's/warranty manual Very Carefully.

No, you don't have to do the maintenance at the dealer, but this is not your usual domestic/import warranty/maintenance schedule, unless it changed in the last year or so.

Have receipts and maintenance log for everything. They have a somewhat different schedule than anyone else. Hate for you to lose your powertrain coverage because you didn't keep the receipt for that fuel system air filter.
