1.Bug & Tar Remover ----only as needed
2.Wash 'n Wax-----------fine
3.cleaner wax ----------this will last only a few weeks at best.
Nanoskin or clay followed with a sealant will last months.
4.Ult. Black -----------fine
5. Interior ------------fine

Compound & polish only as required.
Future wash & dry-------- wipe down with Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax. It's a sealant and will add to whatever sealant you used initially and add bling.

A machine compound is NOT a substitute for clay.

If I already have clay, is the nanoskin cost really justified? It seems to be very expensive, probably over $50 after shipping.

You can wait till your clay is done before replacing it with nanoskin. A nanoskin sponge costs $13. The $50 version mounts to a DA polisher and is better for details shops that work on volume.

Finally you showed up! I'll look into the Nanoskin for sure, from what i already know it seems like a pretty easy to use abrasive pad. I'm concerned of potential damage the light pad might do to clear coat if used every 6 months. What do you think?

The amount of abrasion, if any, from a nanoskin is minimal. The nanoskin was never designed to remove any clearcoat - it only removes the contaminants.

Also, I would suggest getting the "mitt" version if you do not plan on investing in a DA polisher. It is only $33 on Amazon.

I agree with The Critic...it's only removing crud from the paint. If you are apprehensive about the nanoskin you can always stick with clay. I have not used the nanoskin products but those that have sang the praises and swore off the clay. I can see where both would be handy to have.

Any way you slice it, dump the tar remover, and get to claying!

Once you use clay, you'll never be without it and want to show all your friends. Yes, it's that good.

It also makes waxing SO much easier because wax comes of easier since there arent all those bonded contaminents making it hard to remove.

CLAY. Just do it.

There will be times when bug & tar remover is required. When you do use it keep in mind that it strips everything off of the paint so reapplication of sealant/wax is a must.
