It is only going to get worse. BTW - you can keep your current guns, you just have to register them. We shall see how long that lasts. I recommend you "lose" them in a terrible ice fishing accident.

It's amazing that because of a few mentally ill people America can lose it's rights in such a broad manner. I own 3 hunting guns which haven't been fired in 25 years so I am not an avid gun supporter, but this mind set today in America is drifting toward us loosing our rights rapidly. What's next?

Well said and sadly WAY too many are not grasping this.

That's what I dislike about liberals. If they think something is bad, or they don't beleive in something, They want to take it from everybody. Bad way of thinking.

How many have died since 12/14/12 ???? try more than 3500 that is how many per month??? That is from gun violence I know 35 people died in a traffic accident last week in NC so it makes it seem less important. 3500 people died are we out of our minds??????

They'll just do what Washington D.C. did in the mid-70s. After a year or so, close the registry so no new guns can be registered. Since they're not/ cannot be registered, they're now illegal to possess. Poof! Instant gun ban without even having to call it such.

What, no DNA sample? (Maybe I shouldn't give them ideas)

And how will reducing our rights as Americans help the evil mind set of so many today in our society?

Gun laws do NOTHING but take the guns away from good people.

Question: How do you stop a bad person with a gun? Answer: find a good person with a gun.

So in short, CT just ensured that it will be easier for bad people with guns to do what they want.

These laws are going to make good people into criminals because any intelligent, responsible gun owner is going to ignore these laws and keep their guns unregistered, and are going to avoid putting their info on file.
Everyone I know here in NY has signed petitions to dismantle the new SAFE Act.
We have more pressing issues to deal with in this country. Creating expensive new bureaucracies to deal with guns should be bottom of the list.

and then triple the taxes on it

It's really disconcerting to see so many people clamoring to have their freedom, and the freedom of others, taken away.

It's sad when the government uses tragedies as an instrument to collect more revenue.
Increased taxes and fees on the legal gun owning working man are definitely going to stop the criminally insane.

Why are they making it hard for law abiding citizens to own guns yet not making the sentencing longer to criminals using guns?

Make the prison time longer and at some point it just isn't worth using a gun in a crime.

Raise my taxes and build more prisons andmake the minimum sentence 25 years and no parole. That would make alot of criminals think twice.

The problem isn't guns, the problem is America.

Someone with a knife can be just as lethal in a defenseless school, and knives are even easier to hide.

The amount of ignorance in today's society is ridiculous. Taking away guns will only impact the ability for good people to defend themselves. How many criminals use guns that are legally registered to them? Criminals don't follow laws, after all thats what makes them criminal.
