New Castrol Edge black bottle formula?

Just got back from Walmart to buy oil and a filter for my gf's Mustang (Pennzoil 10w30 conventional and an MC 820S filter). I noticed the Castrol Edge black bottle no longer says "with Syntec Power Technology" but now says "with Titanuim Fluid Strength Technology" but on the back of the jug it still says "Formerly Syntec". Did Castrol change the formula in the black bottle Edge,or is it just a new marketing strategy? It's also on Rollback for $21 (5 quart jug). I'm thinking about going back and buying a jug of it while it's cheap for my next oil change.

Castrol changed labels more than once the last 2-3 years. The newest has Titanium additive. I bought a couple jugs at $21.xx a jug, 1 0W40 and 1 0W20, few weeks ago.

Nobody seems to know if Castrol changed the formula when they changed the bottles on both the Black and the Gold Edge.

Castrol makes a fine oil but their marketing (of these 2) leaves something to be desired, IMO.

Castrol's marketing is traditionally confusing or odd. They have managed to sell me a good bit of oil over the years in spite of that.

The current black bottle Edge is reformulated, as it previously contained no titanium. The gold bottle Edge is still a bit of a mystery, it was renamed "Extended" about the same time but it is unclear to me if they made any actual changes to the gold bottle blend or not.

Same here. Always been my fave oil from my motorcycles to my cars. I've experimented alot but always come back to Castrol.

I think it's a new formula because the new black bottle is SN and it must contains their new titanium additive.

Castrol Edge with STP (formerly Syntec) is SM and it didn't say anything about titanium.

They did change it to include the titanium additive recently. The new TDS reflects this.

I would agree. The advertising and marketing is horrible. The oil is pretty good, though up for debate when competitors are added.
