Just came across this on Advanced Auto that a new line of Carquest filters are on the market now. Anyone have any efficiency numbers on these? I wonder if they are just duplicates of the PG made Mobil 1 oil filters. Kind of high price at $16 a piece before discount.

Oh please, please, please ... let it be designed and made well, free of cost-cutting efforts and production defects.

I tire of the current garbage in the market. I'd pay $16 for a well made, reliably consistent filter.
I'd likely go buy a case of them.

This looks to me like a direct competitor to the Mobil 1 EP and the Purolator 20K oil filters. I’m sure there are people who will buy one of these filters and use it along with their favorite oil that is advertised to be a 20K mile oil. I’m definitely not their target audience.

I usually do 5-7K mile oil and filter changes. Most of the PG made filters are 99% at 20-25 microns, are good for 10K miles and can be found for around $10 before discount. I’m happy with that and see no reason to buy a 20K oil filter with unknown micron rating.

In other words, make a filter that does what it's supposed to do. Our standards really aren't that high if you think about it.

Hmmm the nitrile says it is hydrogenated for extended use. OK. Does anyone who knows chemistry want to comment on this? I really don't imagine that they would make this if it couldn't last 20K. But then again, people have said this about a lot of oil filters that didn't look too good when opened up, so who knows?

For me the issue is cost. I can get the Mobil1-209A at WM for $11.50; the equivalent here (https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p...516/50200434-P?searchTerm=carquest+oil+filter) is $17.

Aren't there already a few brands available for a while now that meet exactly what you want ???? 🤔

We'll hopefully learn what these are similar to & just buy the cheapest option. The service parts market is consolidating further it seems.

Says full synthetic media. Current CQ Premiums are syn-blend so this should be different.

Do we finally have a reliable replacement for the OG Ultra? Albeit at twice the price but discounts should be doable at AAP.
