New Car

Newbie and just a ?, have a new 08 Malibu with the 3,6 V6 and did my first oil change at 500 miles and second at 1500 coming up on the 3K mark and want to run the Pennzoil Synthetic, is this alright or should I put a few more miles on her???

Hi, you could put more miles on your oil just to save a few bucks. What were you using for this oil change interval? Your fine with switching to PP right now...it won't hurt a thing. How do you like the 3.6L? Good acceleration and economy?

No harm doing it now like pickled said, no reason to do it until you are ready to run full length oil change intervals.

I pretty much did the same thing as you with my new Jeep. I did the first OC at 500 and used Pennzoil conventional, the second OC was at 2000 miles I changed to PP. Changing to synthetic at 1500 miles won't matter, its done all the time and is even used as a factory fill on a lot of cars.

pickled: Love this car, it is the LTZ model, i'm using the Pennzoil Conventional oil, use it in all my other cars as well.
It's settled then Pennzoil Synthetic at the 3K mark

Switch whenever, you will have the guys that say wait till 10K or a certain mileage to let everything set in etc...

who really knows

Pennzoil Platinum in the correct weight will be a terrific oil for that car!

You should be able to follow your OLM with no problems whatsoever. Cheers

I think what you're doing is fine, change it again at 3k and drive happy! Pennzoil Platinum will be just fine.
