New Car

Negative seven grand on the F-150? It died with how many miles and what year? If you sold it with a busted engine, you must have taken a blood bath on that truck. How did you navigate that?

Sorry to hear about the truck. That Honda should last you a decade or more. My Dad has an H-RV. He loves it. His is dark blue. No issues with it so far.

I purchased the truck about a year and a half ago. It was a 2015 with 191k on it. I paid 11k for it. It was a bad purchase. The engine was sludged (found out after purchase when I replaced spark plugs).

I don’t know what it is about Japanese cars not having individual sensors in the TPMS. My Mazda is the same way. My mother’s 2013 Honda accord constantly lights on the TPMS if the tires are not within a pound or two of each other. I don’t mind checking tire pressures ( I do it every two weeks with my vehicles, even though the Hyundai has individual readouts), but it’s nice to know them on the fly, so to speak. Are you concerned with the CVT transmission? It is a nice looking vehicle though, and I’m sure you won’t have to worry too much overall. Have you already started to plan what oil you are going to use in it? :D
I'm not concerned about the cvt right now. It is a bit weird to get used to barely feeling the gears shift. I’ll have to do some research on it. I previously owned a 2012 focus with that dual clutch nonsense…and yes, I have been scouring the internet trying to decide what oil to use 😂

No “gears”, just an infinite range between 2.526 and 0.408…. With a 5.436 final drive.

The engine isn't picky about what oil to use.

The CVT can use any CVT fluid. Honda's CVT fluid is the same color as oil. Amalie's CVT fluid is the same color. Autozone's house brand STP is made by Amalie, and I've used it in a Honda with no problem. Valvoline CVT fluid is also amber.

A trailer really is the way to go instead of driving a truck IMO.

I’ve got 2 trailers. One is a flat trailer to haul my sand-rail, which I do use to haul other stuff too. The other is a truck-bed trailer and I love it. They’re cheap redneck machines that can do it all. I do hate using the flat trailer though, 5 straps to hold something down and if it’s awkwardly shaped, it still tries to fly off. Need sides on the trailer.

Stick to OEM Honda CVT fluid....

Congratulations! You're going to sleep good at night having the Honda.

When our 2020 Ram 1500 with 8.5k miles was totaled in a hail storm two years ago, we decided not to replace it and bought a 4.5' x 10' aluminum trailer rated for 2k lbs. The trailer weighs just over 300lbs and is more useful for hauling than the short bed on the Ram. I've used it to haul all kinds of stuff, including a large, 15' wide roll of artificial turf (with creative use of the tongue and fill material packed along its length). When we've needed many bags of concrete, 20' rebar, and other really heavy stuff, I pay the delivery fee which is then offloaded onto my driveway next to the house. If you ask nicely, the delivery drivers will even slip pallets into a garage. We do not miss having a truck.

Fun fact, the HRV is a giant compared to the 1at and 2nd gen Accords. and has more useable space than a 4th/5th generation Accord
Did not know that! I’m all about cargo space. Sweet.

Edit just looked this up. Potentially not a valid comparison as it is 21 cu ft shy of a CR-V (why I suspect they are so popular). It’s common knowledge that cr-v has more cargo than euro mid sized SUVs….

But compared to a GTI the HRV shines 😊

After a few days of driving, I have a few complaints. They are pretty minuscule in the grand scheme of things.

1. The wireless charger makes my phone extremely hot. Even if I take the case off.

2. When trying to use voice commands, the vehicle recognizes its own prompt as user feedback, and cancels itself out. The music doesn’t mute automatically when using the voice command button.

3. I am unable to see my Apple CarPlay directions in the gauge cluster screen like I can see music and phone information. I feel like the directions could pop up there fairly easily if other information does.

I am still getting 29MPG average (computer) and it’s comfortable and smooth. The Honda Sense tech works really well. Blind spot information would be nice if it was included in the basic package.
