My new 2026 Nissan Sentra

Good little cars. I really like our 2019.

I'd rather crawl around mountainous terrain in a nimble, lighter weight vehicle, possibly with a well-suited CVT, than in a gasoline powered locomotive designed to tow loads I'll never see.

My friends in your region LOVED their CVTs. Theirs were in Mitsubishis.

It's good to hear Nissan improved them.

Ended up doing that a few weekends ago with our 2019. Rural PA climbing some steep hills. It did way better than I thought for a 1.8!

The Mitsubishi CVTs are provided by JATCO. The same ones in Nissans.

The economy and my work has taken such a hit I was having a hard time making 2 huge car payments (F250 and Bronco) so I bailed on the one I had a bit of positive equity on for something totally dull and totally boring. Introducing my newest appliance. 2026 Sentra (MR20DD and a cvt) although it is quite the nice little car that was cheap although being well optioned I miss having something with a bit of personality (although I do still have my Xterra and F250) being 12k less than a base model corolla and a supposedly much improved cvt helped sell me. Dramatically cheaper to drive per week than an f250 too oddly
Gonna skip the amsoil on this one, as it is an appliance not a car.View attachment 342453View attachment 342454View attachment 342455View attachment 342456
I guarantee that GON has zoomed in on the red tow hook !

Do the 2026's still have that annoying plastic pan that has to be dropped down to access the oil filter? I recall the ones up to 2024 having this one piece pan spanning most of the length of the vehicle.

I've always enjoyed our Nissans and generally had great luck with them. We had a 1993 and then a 2001 Sentra way back in the day.

I have heard a lot of the CVT transmission issues with the Sentra's. Not sure how that will play out for a 2026? Someone suggested changing the fluid every 30K. I agree. I really don't know the scope of the issues, but seems like a solid plan.

He’ll be fine Nissan updated there CVT’s back in 21 and with him having a 26 model year it’s definitely has latest best cvt jatco has to offer ☺️

Congrats! I bought my '25 Sentra new and about to turn 15k miles on it. I'm a life long trucker that loves lots of gears to manually shift, yet I love my car's CVT. It's fantastic for fuel efficiency and super smooth.

I've had a couple long days of traveling/waiting in the car that were 8-9 hours each, with total comfort. No aches or moans when I got home and climbed out of the car. Super nice if you ask me.

Commuting in rural upstate NY with very steep hills, I easily achieve mid forties mpg (in warm weather). Plowing through snow and very cold air this past winter, I struggled to stay in the 31-33 mpg range. Sometimes dropping to 29-30 mpg over the course of a tank.

I love my Sentra. Laugh at me if you wish.
Like you, my Sentra looks a little goofy next to my dd

A car that was both cheap to buy and will be cheap to run.
Probably a very wise purchase that should serve you well for as long as you care to drive it.
This is the sort of vehicle I'd like to see returning to favor. These little shuttles were once mainstream and they weren't just Japanese made either. Sticks were widely available at any dealer and were always cheaper than the dynamically inferior automatics.
Anyone have a clue as to what the largest volume new car in the US was in 1979 and again in 1980?
It was neither the half ton Chevy nor the half ton Ford.
