Hi all. Been lurking for a while. Great info! I was wondering...when should I do UOA on a new car? (I'm getting a new Subaru WRX in about a week)

Should it be done after the first 1K miles or 1st 3K miles? I'd like to know when it's really broken in instead of just guessing.

Thanks for the info!

Your right, you will find a boat load of information on this board.

I guess that all depends on what info you are looking to get out of your UOA(s)?

If your looking for the UOA(s) to help you in determining when your new vehicle is broken in, (by studying the "trend" of wear metals and when they level out), then you should probably do them from the get go.

If your wanting to use UOA(s) as a tool to figure out a filter and oil change interval you are comfortable with, using your preferred oil and filter in your vehicle with your driving habbits, then it is not so important to start right away.

As others reply, I'm sure they will add to this or may come up with different scenarios for using UOA(s) and when to start them.
