My new 2012 Ford Fiesta has consumed about a third of a litte of oil in its first 6000 km. ( 3600 miles ). Is it normal for a new motor to burn a bit of oil during break in?
Thanks for replying , I broke it in with varied revs and 50/50 city hiway. I took it easy for the first 200 miles and gradually used harder acceleration.

I have a 2012 Acura TL 3.7. Used 1/2 Qt during the first 5600 miles. Changed the oil to Pennzoil Ultra (motor minder at 15%). Hopefully consumption will decrease during this oil change interval.

On the 3.5 - There's a problem - that's out of the realm of NORMAL.
The only car I have ever had that didn't use oil were a couple Toyota's and a BMW. The rest have always needed oil every so often. If I did 3k OCI's it wouldn't be an issue usually, but I don't.
The BMW might use oil, but the electronic gauge never goes down, so...
