The thing is, you need some level of probable cause. how do you know they went through your state/city/county? I doubt they can obtain rights to siezure unless they have evidence suggesting they passed through that locale.
But, say, NY got it, bc they were known to be there, or CA, the states might then be able to share it? IDK. Not sure how cost-effective it would be for each state/municipality to pursue it, other than to set a precedent.
Still, I personally would not have posted it inside the statute of limitations. I also don't know if I'd want my name associated with the feat--- imagine the local PD... there would never, ever, be any more "warnings," just tickets.... But I'm also just cautious like that. I don't drive like that because I care about not getting into an accident, or the liability...
Frankly, the car excites me more! dual auxilliary gas tanks. pumps to handle it. additional onboard electronics. that stuff seems pretty awesome to me. Though, I don't get why they had so much issue with fuel smells. if the tanks have sealed caps, and manage any venting properly, (such as tieing the vent tubes together to the proper carbon canister plumbing, solenoid-actuated valving to handle pressure relief during fuel transfer, etc.) there should not have been fumes inside or outside of the car. My $10 5gal plastic gas jugs seem to manage it ok... so it doesn't take space-aged materials and fittings...
Search Gumball 3000. This really is kind of tame compared to what they do. The US has to many laws and good police.
