Cadillac's sales collapse in China, down 50 percent in four years

Cadillac was strong when it was a world standard. Luxury cars.
Now they're just awkward shaped, really ugly Lexus wannabes.
I don't see any resemblance between Cadillac cars and Lexus. If anything, Lexus is a Mercedes knockoff. Cadillac has its own style and their cars look really good but beauty is within the eye of the beerholder.

I bought a new Cadillac XTS in 2014. It broke down and had to be towed 8 times in 18 months, before I traded it in. I’ve had several new vehicles (23 in total) and put 100-250K on many of them, with no repairs done to them. My current vehicle is a GMC w/ 5.3L and I’ve logged 124K miles on it. Never had any problems whatsoever. My best run was a Toyota Tacoma, which I logged 250K miles on and my wife wanted something newer to drive (She took it over when I thought it was too small for me). I also had an ’00 Chrysler LHS that racked up 200K miles perfectly (the dealer was amazed when I traded it in and they pulled up “no repairs”). Same with a ’95 Mercury Sable. It was rock solid. Overall, the very worst vehicle was a ’95 Hyundai Sonata. Was at the dealer 31 times in 12 months. So, there is a worse car than a Caddy...

Had a friend, retired iron worker with a Cadillac CTS, which he purchased for himself as a retirement gift. Like you, his Cadillac was in the shop often. He concluded the Cadillac dealer was not competent to service a CTS. Like you, he ended up trading in the CTS not long after owning the Cadillac. He replaced the CTS with Hyundai, the first foreign nameplate he ever purchased.

That’s how the Chinese government will retaliate. They will push their own product with stolen IP. Why do you think any venture in China requires 51% controlling stake from a Chinese corporation, which in turn is controlled by the Chinese government? They can seize the factories if they want to and keep making the product, just slap a different badge.

In essence they can and probably will kick out American owned companies

Someone mention Mercedes? In Corfu, Greece the cabs are Mercedes.

I looked at a loaded CT5 Blackwing
and it cost 2x the price of a Vette...
Crazy.
I looked into that on the build and price feature on GMs website. It depends on which Corvette with what options.

One thing missing on dealership lots are tons of three year old Corvette lease returns.
Most of the used Cadillacs are low mileage lease returns with every option at half the cost of a new one.
