New bottles of Shell Rotella T

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this info, if it is not, I'm sorry.

Stopped by O'Reilly's last night and saw they had new bottles of Shell Rotella T on the shelf. It was in the 10w30 Triple Protection, but I imagine the rest of the Rotella line up will be done the same way. The change is that even though the label is still unchanged, it is the newer Energized Protection label, the bottle has been changed. It is now in the same shape as the Pennzoil Ultra 5 qt. bottle, just in a smaller 1 gallon jug size.

Looks as if Shell is starting to stream line a lot of their oils.
I am more concerned about the oil's performance than the bottle, that's why I'm a Shell guy, but I thought the change was interesting.

Was it the white conventional 10w30 or the silver semi-syn 10w30? All rotella seem to have gone to the new bottle shape...

It was the white conventional 10w30, I have only seen the silver semi-syn 10w30 at Walmart.

I want to hear about the performance change in this oil too. This is what I use in both my motorcycle and my car, the change worries me because I had heard that they "were going to reduce the zinc level" and if they did then I wonder if there is something better. I use 5W-40.

T6 has reduced Zn and Phosphorus levels from RTS. That has been discussed ad nauseam on BITOG. It still has more than most PCMOs however.

Both T6 and RTS are CJ-4

(unless you find some *old* RTS that's CI-4/CI-4+)

If I did not have a DPF I'd run any Rotella - they are all good

With a DPF I would have to run Rotella T6

Are you driving a wet clutch MC ?

If so I'd stick with any oil that is not energy conserving .

The 15W40 and T6 have the JASO motorcycle approval on the label.
