With the new Shindaiwa trimmers and the pressure from the Feds on emission control, the trimmers requirements aren't like the old Shindaiwa using a flat head screw driver..

First the air to gas mixture CAN NOT be adjusted without a special tool. The operator CAN NOT adjust it themselves. Actually tampering the adjusting air mixture can cost a 35,000 fine without proper procedures to go about doing it.

Proper maintenance for having a clean air filter is stressed. Also Shindaiwa is offering a higher grade two stroke oil the Red Armor.

Echo being the parent company highly recommends if not to use the NGK spark plugs to meet the Feds demands on emissions.

The Echo CS-500 chainsaw actually is a Shindaiwa with the Echo name plate. The Echo CS-271T is a combine Shindaiwa-Echo technology the lightest saw with a punch in NA.

A die grinder will make nice slots in the adjusting screws so that a flat head screwdriver fits.

Or ebay the proper tool, pacman, single d, or double d. On my trimmer they are recessed so I couldn't go the Chris142 route.
