Never using racetrack gas ever again

I filled up at racetrack, turned my car on and it shut off after a little. That whole gas tank it would shut off at stop lights, I had to drive it easy and burn all that gas.
I filled up at Shell and no more problems for the past two weeks using Shell.

Race gas in a stock engine is not good, assuming that's what you're driving. The ignition system will hate you for it. It's not rocket fuel.

About 5 years ago I used Race Track gas in my LT1 Z28. That car ran like poo poo the whole time. Last time I ever used Race Track, Mobil for me from now on.

He is talking about the gas station "RaceTrack" not an actual race track, lol.

But, yeah Racetrack brand gas is not the best from what I've read and I do know of 2 other people who had issues with their gas. That is why I only use Shell, Chevron, QT or other top tier gas....most of the time the price differerence is a few pennys or even the same.

A friend of mine had to pay the Benz dealer 1200 bucks to get his car back on line after filling up with a tankful of dirt at a Racetrack station in Broward County..This was a VERY busy station right off of I-95.

Now he does what I do..Only gets gas at Mobil..The Mobil stations in my neck of woods have very good maintenance.

"Racetrac" (no K) gas has had a few reported cases of water in their gas. They are usually the cheapest around here by a penny or two...

Yes, it is "Racetrac" not racetrack.

We have a number of them nearby and while I don't think it is the best gas, it is adequate, they are busy right off the interstate and never had a problem that I know of. Usually about 5 cents cheaper than most other places nearby.

Racetrac and Speedway both suck IMO!

I've used Flying J and Pilot gasoline, right off the interstate and I've used some Racetrac gasoline, in NJ, but never had any problems with the fuel.

I've also used a lot of "Mom and Pop" no name gasoline with no problems like a station called Delta in NJ. FWIK...Delta is out of Panama.

I have had problems....quite a few with big name gas stations in NYC. Bad gasoline or else they never change the filters on the pumps.

Just go across the street to QT.

Top Tier gas and they still have the "Guaranteed Gasoline" promise on the pump.

Race gas typically has lots of oxygen in it, much more than ethanol. This extra oxygen make cars run very lean. They're usually called methanol. This could be your problem. On the bright side, you car has more HP than if it were running straight gasoline.

We've already established that the OP is speaking about Racetrac BRANDED fuels, NOT the super high octane, and/or oygenated fuel purchased at a drag strip/oval/road course.
