I just finished putting on some shock absorbers on my Chevy 3/4 ton and found that if you lift the rear at the body lift points you can reach the bolts on the top mounting points and take them out with an impact gun. The driver’s side rear mounting point required an extension bar to come in over the rear tire. I used a conventional chrome extension bar but now I decided to upgrade to a bar made for an impact gun. These are sold by Neiko, made in Taiwan, and available on Amazon. I’m only assuming they are tougher than the chrome bars. I’m just trying to avoid a potential fracture and shrapenal. They were just over $10 US.
