Oil is Maxlife with a K&N filter.

Oil was put in in August, only has roughly 2,500 miles on it, but my concern is, truck only gets drove once or twice a week....sometimes for less then 20 miles.

Should I change it out? Live in Colorado where the temps have been ranging from 10F-50F or so

This is an older truck with 189k miles, doesn't use or leak oil, but I've never gone more then 4k miles on an oci just because of the type of engine being hard on the oil in general.

Change it? Yes! But after 5500 miles... Driving it twice a week is plenty. I thought you were going to say, "I drive it twice a year."

Are you *sure*??? I'm itching....seriously!

I've NEVER left oil in this engine this long before in the whole 13yrs I've owned it.

I used to rack up 4k miles in 4-5mnths.

It could stay a bit longer. But, I say change it if it gives you peace at mind. Thats what counts.

Good quality oil, good quality filter, runs of over 10 miles on average - no need to change yet IMHO. If it gets a 20 mile run every 2 weeks or so, that should be enough to keep condensation or fuel dilution at a minimum - so I doubt there's anything to worry about for a while.
If it REALLY bothers you - then go ahead and change it - but it probably won't matter much to the truck. It's probably happy just to get driven.

Oh yeah, I should point out that I have kept Maxlife Blend in my motorhome for a year, driving it on several long trips and a few shorter ones, but letting it sit in the driveway most of the time. No problems.

Motor oils have greatly improved just in the last 10 years. Gotta snap out of that "change your oil every 3000 miles" train of thought. What sucks is how much dealers, shops, and auto parts stores keep pushing it though.

at 189k, who cares?...bite the bullet and go 7k...you wont hurt anything...just listen to all the horror stories of people who go 20k on same oil and engine still runs...i cant stand going more than 8k on M1...or having globs of junk in my antifreeze like some people

I do. 189k miles to me is nothing when an engine still runs handles like it's brand-new.

But I do understand what everyone's saying; fwiw, when this oil gets drained I'm putting RTS 5w-40 back in it.

I'll let it go another month or so...even though I'm itching!
