I am in the market for a good, heavy duty garden hose. The main uses will be typical homeowner outdoor stuff such as washing vehicles, cleaning stuff that has accumulated dirt, watering outside plants, etc.

The reason I say heavy duty is because I want to be one and done in the water hose business and I want a good one. If you see something outside of the heavy duty arena that is fit for the use described, please feel free to mention those as well.

It seems like most reviews I read mention water hoses with kinks or the inlets/outlets have leakage problems.

I have zero brand loyalty and I won't say that I have an unlimited budget, but I'm definitely not looking for a hose based on price point alone. I just want something that works well and is durable above all else.

I bought a 100' garden hose at Sam's Club a few years ago that is holding up well. The ends have heavy brass connections and overall it seems very heavy duty.

I purchased a 100' Craftsman Professional back in 2004. Still works like new. Sits outside 100% of its life. Not plastic over a rubber core; it's 100% heavy rubber.

Buy a Craftsman one that guaranteed for life. If it fails, cut off the ends and bring them in for a replacement, just like their tools. You could cut it over with lawnmower and get a free replacement. When I worked at Sears I replaced several.

We have a couple good ones, like $1.50/ft at full retail, but at 1/3 off or 1/2 price at the end of the season they are a great deal as they last and last, 8-10 years on them so far.
Ours spend most of the time laying in grass and only get rolled up for winter, so weight and rollability aren't a problem for us.

Flexogen 5/8" are very good. I have some just starting to go bad after 20 years. The 5/8" handle more pressure than 3/4". I have some new ones too, they're just as good as the old ones. They are sold on most hardware/garden centers.

Goodyear or Continental black garden hose. Available online or check it out at Home Depot.

I have both and they look similar so they are probably made by the same manufacturer.

I have had the Craftsman lifetime hoses for years. Very pliable in any kind of weather. I had one to spring a pinhole leak and just cut the ends off and took them to Sears and got a new one with no questions asked.

Yep get the Craftsman rubber hose.

Only negative is that its heavy and the rubber can rub black on clothes.

I bought a grey "contractor grade" 50' hose at Home Depot ages ago and I think the thing will last forever...but it is not much fun on the barrel hose reel. It never kinks or gets really hard, but is always stiff enough to be tough to reel in. I'm sure it will last longer than me.

I have the GoodYear 3/4" 75ft contractor hose I bought at Home Depot

I use white "RV style" garden hoses. For one reason, it does NOT have lead, and you can drink from them. And I use a lead free brass nozzle.

You drink out of your garden hose? No thanks, I'd never drink out of a hose that wasn't stored capped at both ends.
