Need oil filter help

We have a 2007 gmc 2500HD with the 6.0 and it is 2X4. The stock filter is short. There is tons of room for a longer filter. I mean so much room that one a foot long would fit if they made such a filter.

Anybody have a way of finding which pureone or wix filter would work that is longer than the stock filter?

If your filter is recessed, then I think you're out of luck. If not, then you have options assuming you can fit the diameter. The gaskets will work.

Hmmmm im not sure if a filter thats bigger around will fit. The cast aluminum oil pan has a recess in it where the oil filter sits upright against. There is probably only a 1/2" gap between the pan and the filter.

Dang oh well it was worth a shot I guess. It really sucks because the stock filter is so small on such a large engine. How about the EAO filters? Do you think the correct eao even though it will be small be able to go out to 10K to 15K before it needs to be changed?

I used a EaO57 (dinky PH3614 size) on the wife's jeep for about 18k and cut it open. Not a conclusive test, by any means, but looked decent. The normal filter is a PH16/FL300 size. used oil analysis didn't appear to degrade as time/mileage progressed.
