Just moved into a new apartment in Atlantic Beach, Florida. 3 large, old, single pane windows that seal poorly and let a massive amount of heat in, causing my A/C to run far more than would be necessary if I can keep some of that heat out. In my last apartment I tinted the windows with Gila film, the reason I can't do the same here is because now I face the parking lot whereas before I faced a field. If I put the Gila on with the mirrored backing the apartment complex might not like that. So I need to find a tint that doesn't have this mirrored backing and I am coming up short. Any suggestions?

I bought some mirror tint from Ali-Express and it was dirt cheap. I applied to the glass in my rear facing door of the house because it would really heat up the hallway. Has been on there for about 5 years and still working great. (Put it on the inside facing outward)

Yea that's what I did last time is put it on the glass on the inside. But I need a tint that doesn't have a mirrored effect from the outside. I guess I can just do 1 window and if they say anything I can take it down. Though what I really wanna say is why in the heck do you still have these awful windows in here!

Yea that's what I did last time is put it on the glass on the inside. But I need a tint that doesn't have a mirrored effect from the outside. You can get just darkening tint to cut down on the light. I just happened to buy mirror tint because the sunlight through my back door was extreme. Ali-Express will have both types.

If your set on doing it yourself, look at residential ceramic film from a place like this. https://tintdepot.com/product-category/commercial-residential/ You can get a high TSER film without it being as reflective. As an example, look into Nano Ceramic Clear Architectural Window Film 80%, 86%. Of coarse, the darker ceramics have bettr number that the lighter, but they make a huge difference!

I have used the DIY films from Home Depot and it worked just fine. Around $30 a 25' roll for 60% block if I remember right.
I would just put it on and let them tell you to take it off (if they even notice and care). I assume the windows reflect light already, so it may not be that much of a difference. I would just suggest finding one that is marketed towards heat reduction, and find the one that's the most transparent, so it's least noticeable from outside.

The white will deflect the IR back out the window, and you can open or close them.

3m night vision 35%, filters infer-red and uv.
Have had it installed for 12 years now on 14 west facing windows 12 with no curtains, still looks new and the furniture isnt faded.
