Need help..will a motorcraft 910 fit on a 95 neon?

Hey all happy labor day!
I have a 1995 plymouth neon, ATX. The oil filters im suposed to use, are 3614.. I have 2 motorcraft 910 filters i bought 2 or 3 years ago, becuase wanted to try them, never did. SO! today im chanigng my oil, and would like to try them.
I had read the other post here, about those using thee wrong oil filter, so thought ide ask the pros here... For a 95 neon, motorcraft makes a 792 i think it is, filter. their hard to find. The 910 is virtually identical in size and width of all 3614 filters..
Would it be safe to use? OR would the pros here call it too risky?

from what I can tell from Purolators cross reference - its the same. 3/4 X 16 thread

My '95 beater Neon is fussy with certain filters and will cause a lifter tick. I'm using Wix because it doesn't like the Frams for some reason.

If the thread and diameters are the same use it as it will be fine IMO.

the FL-910 is a shorter FL-400S, we have used them in a pinch when we run out on accident.

yeah its the right thread and all...i just wanna be careful so i dont find it failed or blew off my car form oil pressure, ebcause it was the wrong filter.
so! i take it the 910 should be safe to use then>?

In most apps, one 3/4-16 thread filter is as good as the next. My son uses a FL300 sized filter on his 96 2.0. He doesn't use the FL1A since it hangs below the pan.

The 910 will be fine as far as I can tell. Motorcraft builds to OE spec and so does WIX and the comparable models from WIX show little difference other than size.

I was just joking about the 14 year old car. Nothing wrong with an old car... It's actually smart... Saves you $$$ Was just funnin' with yah.

Gary and steve, thanks to you both Thats how i am steve..yeah its a 14 year old car. I bought it back in 2000, from a locval subaru dealer used. It had 34,000 original miles on it, for $3,700 after taxes and other fiancial things with the car. It is rated at 34 mpg, which is awesome, but where i am its knida meaningless..as we have alot of stop n go traffic, backed up highways in summer, sever driving basically. Ive already dumped a good $4,500 into it, since ive had it, new struts, 2 headgasketts sof ar, going on 3rd..new axle and bearing, suspension pads,. SO! Ive actualyl dumped more money into thte neon, that what i bought it for. I know thats usually a sign, for new car, but even with a new car, anyting can happen anyways at any given time. Mileage is at around 143,000 miles, which isnt that bad. Neon is a fun car to drive, but..i feel it has a weak suspension, very weak. One little thing goes wrong, and the car responds negativley. Their engines have been known, to survive timing belt snaps too, and their transmissions are rated as some of the strongest in US auto industry!
aside form this..thanks again im gunna try the motorcraft, as ive been SO eager to see and feel hopw the car drives and responds. My neon donst seem to like to much, frams orange cans, mobil 1 filters, and bosch..it drives on the sluggish side with them.

My Beater Neon was purchased from a guy down my road who had given up on putting money into it. The body looks like khrap because it has the flaking paint problem, the head gasket was done twice. Once by us and once by the previous owner, alternator, shocks, brakes, radiator was all replaced before I got it and it had good tires. So just a gasket set and some time to do the HG and I have been driving it ever since.

I use it to run the US on our bi-weekly shopping trips or when my Santa Fe needs maintenance as a spare car. Or when I want to go somewhere cheap on fuel.

It's ok, does really well on fuel. It has week compression on one of the cylinders though caused by worn rings. This causes it to use a bit of oil between changes but nothing crazy.

Passed local emission tests with a good margin

For $200 + the cost of a head gasket I couldn't go wrong... 2 Years I have had it.

If I had enough space ..I'd buy up all the $100-$500 Neons that I could fit. Who cares what they look like (as in "scratch and dent")? They're a pretty decent economical car, imo. I think my son has done the rad and the HG ..and that's about it.

They're even less work when they are manual-transmission like mine... And really fun to Red-Line.

I was rather impressed with the response with the automatic. Most small engined compacts with automatics are real dogs. For a normally aspirated 2.0, the auto Neon does rather well. My son says that it loses it on hills, but I don't think he's driven my 2.5 Wrangler SE

I guess that it's all relative

Most Chrysler vehicles seem to have very good power in the smaller engines I have found. Wrangler I could see being a problem.

Yeah, ive been through 2 radiators so far, as well as the alternator(died on me last year). I got 13 years ouyt of that alternator! Mitsubishi model. I didnt have time, i ended up getting an autozone rebuilt; ( I wanted to get the NAPA brand new one , bnt it was like $550, and hte dealer was a tad more pricey. I have the flaky paint too..its a medium deep blue. I read about it online, and discoverd for whatever reason, chrysler knew about the paint problem, but marketed the car anyway, with that paint. That kinda turns me off fro chrysler..a car manfacturer that in fact knew the paint was gunna falke off, yet marketed it at full retail.. every year, i end up sanding ofdf the bad areas, that appear like water droplets..and use a close a color spray apint i find at places like atuozone, advace auto..not the same butt close. The dealer has the exct color match up, but they only sell it in small pen sized tubes, meant as touch up paint. Ide be their for huors dabbing paint: { not my idea of fun..
