Need help cleaning suspension components

Anyone know the best way to clean hard caked on crud on the springs? On some parts of the springs, it is completely covered. Feels solid like a rock. I tried using simple green with a toothbrush but that didn't do much. ANyone know what I can use to clean this stuff off? It's also all over the shock body and rubber cover. Is it old embedded brake dust? I just want the springs nice and shiny and the rubber looking like new. Any help appreciated.

Pressure washer should do it easily. Not set too high or anything.

probably clay, needs to be allowed to soak. wait till you have constant raining/drizzling conditions, then go to a place where they have a high pressure hose spray.

You might try a bug and tar spray. Lemon pledge is pretty much the same thing and you might have it in your house (don't tell the wife). It clings to baked on junk and softens it enough to remove.

Just don't get it on your rotors or brake pads.

Depends on what it is. If it is tar sprayed up from road construction, you will need diesel or kerosene, Many other things will come off with high pressure spray.
