I have Window XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD for my Dell Inspiron 1300. If you can use it I will mail it to you, PM me if you want it. But you need Drivers and Utilities CD for your HP ZE4100, you may need to contact HP for it.

Are you doing a complete reinstall or a repair operation where the recovery disk looks for corrupted files?

I believe I have an XP (SP3) disc lying around somewhere and could put the ISO image on my home machine and send you the link through Opera Unite to download it directly off my desktop if you'd like.

As Rand wrote, HP is good about providing recovery disks for models long gone from the market. Total cost with shipping came to about $15 when I did this for someone less than two years ago.

Do you have a working XP with an i386 folder? Everything you need is in there.

The OP cannot use this disc since it looks for Dell OEM SLP 1.0 strings in the BIOS which would not work with his the HPQ system builder key on the side of his case.

If you have a system with a working CD-RW/DVD-RW I can ISO you an OEM CD that should work with your key. It works with most HP/Compaq/DELL/ASUS/IBM keys that I've tried it with.

not sure where to find this folder.

I have HP/Compaq XP disks (XP Home, and XP PRO, and XP Mediacenter disks), the OS install disks, not the model specific "restore disks". As long as you have an HP BIOS, it installs without a key.

The vast majority of HPs I have worked on recently have not had specific restore disks, just an OS disk, then a separate disk with drivers/apps/garbageware. The only actual restore function was on the restore partition in the original hard drive.

Anyways, if you need it I will burn you a copy and send it (let me know which XP you need). I got a lot of packages to mail tomorrow and I will send it out with the rest. PM me address if you need it.

Would this be a good mobo to start building a newer comp with?http://cgi.ebay.com/W-W-ABIT-Computer-AB9-Pro-Motherboard-/280685005200?pt=Motherboards&hash=item415a214990

Well, it depends on what you want this new PC to do. But in general, LGA775 socket is fairly old technology by todays standard. Yet, decent dual core LGA775 CPUs haven't really come down in prices. For similar money, you can buy LGA1155 CPUs nowadays.

That chipset on that AB9 is already 3 generations old. It won't support even the latest LGA 775 CPUs (which are EOL)..........and ABIT is out of business as pointed out above.

ASUS. You should be able to pick up an 1156 socket board with the P55 or H57 chipset cheap now.....

Have you ever put together a system? Not saying it's hard to do, but judging by some of the elemental questions you've been asking on this forum over the years, I'm a little worried this may be more than you've bargained for. I don't mean any disrespect by this. Not all of us are computer geeks, and that's perfectly fine.

Also, make sure to compare the prices. For low- to mid-end stuff, many times it doesn't cost any more to buy a ready-made PC with everything already installed and tested that it works correctly together, not to mention having some kind of warranty on the system as a whole, so you'll never be stuck between two different component manufacturers one blaming the other for some sort of incompatibility.
