Need advice for my rebuilt Engine

Your warranty is very specific. The Rotella T 10W30 conventional oil as i said in my earlier post is still sounding like the correct oil for you, rated SH, SJ, SL, SM. To cover your a$$ Email your re-builder and get his approval on the Rotella T, If he does not whole heartedly approve it then tell him you want him to name a specific oil you can use. When you have determined an approved oil from your re-builder use it for the first 5000 miles as specified and only buy the oil when you do the oil change and keep the receipts. Right or wrong that is the oil your engine rebuild-er wants you to use for the first 5000 miles, any deviation and he can void your warranty. After that you can can use the latest wiz bang synthetic.

You might also want to use a Pure One oil filter from Purolator.

Answered your PM but I'm with Clevy and the rest, Rotella 10w30 conventional should be just the ticket here. You can run that forever or switch later to Rotella T5 or T6, or there are several other oils that produce stellar used oil analysis in the 4.0 including QS Defy or Valvoline of any flavor. Pennzoil generally shows slightly higher "wear numbers" than those I just mentioned but typically runs quieter in the 4.0 than anything if you like that (I do).

I don't agree with their opinion on SM/SN, we had a 4.0 that was sold at 190k running nothing but cheapest available every 4k. Ran perfect when it went to auction. 50k or so was on SM/SN and never a single issue.

BUT...They are the ones who are offering the warranty, and you are kind of stuck with what they specify in their terms to keep intact.

10W30 Rotella should serve you well.
