02 Civic with 127,000 miles. 10,000 mile OCI. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with either filter? Oh, I will be running PP 5w-20.

Both are great filters would do 10k fine, use the cheaper one.

is one bigger then the other?? if so go with that one

I've had onr Balwin leak at the lock seam where the can meets the base. But then I've read that Wix had a few of those too.
I would go with Wix/MAPA Gold because it's a common filter and a known quantity.

Hard to compare the two ..or rather, the two aren't easily comparable. Wix comes in one flavor, and one flavor only. Baldwin may have a silicon upgrade or high performance glass upgrade ..maybe not.

acording to Baldwin, their filter uses a paper media. They didn't say it was enhanced with anything. I know Wix clames a glass enhanced filter media. I can't honestly say I know what that means. I just need a good filter of a 10,000 OCI and I have heard good things about both of them. If it means anything, the Baldwin filter is 1/2 inch taller.

Either will do. I like Puro products, Bosch, Amsoil, Wix, and top end Champ like K&N and Mobil 1 the best.
Baldwin's commercial stuff is really good. The car stuff...OK to good.

Glass enhanced means there are fiber glass microfibers mixed in with the cellulose to make for a better dirt catcher without a significant flow restriction.

Thanks Mr. Rat. I just read your filter study. Great job. I eat stuff like that up. I think I will give wix a try. Maybe a pureone after that.
