Fram EG 6607 - two examples from my 2023 MX5

Fram specs the 6607 for my application. I have no desire to use a non-standard filter just to upsize from something that has not shown to be a problem.
Any aftermarket filter is "different" than the O.E. filter that came on the vehicle. Given the low pleat count and limited media area, it is not a stretch to use a filter that is the same in all ways but length and has greater surface area - if there is adequate room for the upsize.

But I will also say If your machine is not balking, I suppose, then, carry on.

Is the vehicle in a garage in the winter?

OE spec'd filters are different from aftermarket spec'd filters; sure. But the aftermarket makers (Fram, Wix, M/H, etc) "spec" a filter for an application. I have no reason to choose another when the ones I'm using are doing just fine. When I said "non-standard" I was referring to a filter not formally recommended for the application by the maker.

Yes - garaged from Nov to April.
