I need a control arm for my maxima.

which brand should i go with,

Rockauto has
- Dorman - $40
- Raybesto 72
- mevotech - 55
- deeza - 97

Locally i can get napa's
- Altrom Imports ultra 8 - 100

Moog doesnt make one for the car. OEM want $150-180 plus shipping.

Who has experiences with these control arm guys? I like rays for brakes but havent seen other stuff.

Deeza is as close to OEM as you can get out of these choices.
Good quality parts, i would have no problem buying them.
I wouldn't spend a nickel on mevotech or Dorman, the Raybestos i never tried so no opinion but its a big job to risk iffy parts on.

Dorman will be a reboxed white box. You may be able to find something from advance auto at good price with coupon.

The white box control arms I've used have obviously required realignment. TRW or Moog, not so much.

I used a raybestos "service grade" drag link from rockauto, it seemed nice enough out of the box and was half the price of locally bought, even including shipping. Their standard shipping, BTW, is often at my place next day or day after!

I would have a preference (and would spend more) if the ball joint was greaseable, and I don't believe the Dorman is. In general, I think the Dorman suspension products are as cheap as they can make them. I have bought both Dorman and Mevotech for my vehicles, and the Mevotech have typically had grease fittings and generally appeared to be of higher quality, though I don't know if that specifically applies to your application. Unfortunately, I don't think the Rockauto photos allow you to see whether there are grease fittings or not.

the greaseable ball joints, tie rod ends dont apply to me. I dont whatever tool you need to fill or the know how on how to fill the greaseable joints.

advanceauto stocks dormans at like 90-100. It should come out to about even after taxes and coupon VS rockauto's lower price plus S/H

deeza would cost me $100 shipped from rockauto after everything. Its either that or napa's altrom, once i find out if they have warranty

Always go with the higher grade part if it has the ball joint integrated into it. The cheaper part will use a less-resilient rubber boot and it will crack prematurely. It is in a place where it will be flexed constantly and likely will not last anywhere near as long as an OEM part if it is a cheaper rubber.

Furthermore, there is a lot of QC involved in manufacturing a safety-critical part like a ball joint and its socket. Even the assembly process of the joint is a tricky thing to perfect. I used to work right beside the machine that assembled Toyota's OEM balljoints and LCAs. It is a complex beast custom made and we would do things like destructive testing where the joints are regularly ripped apart and the force needed was measured. There is going to be corners cut on cheaper parts, that you can count on.

The LCA is the thing you do NOT want to fail on your car. I have had cheap Ebay LCAs fit fine, look great, but the boots tear after only a year or two. Raybestos offers two grades, I recommend the higher grade of any part you can get, stay away from cheaper parts on something this important.

while i completely agree on most parts. Its very hard to identify the higher grade part. Yea they can use words to list it but without seeing them in person no one can judge quality of the welds on the arms, or thickness of boots used. Raybesto's are the pro grade the one i listed for, last brakes i did using rays came from china. Deeza looks to be a turkish company. I never heard of them but they seem bigger in the euro crowd.

Weld issues are what i found to be problems with ebay arms via google searching.

I think with something like suspension, what you pay for is what you get - especially when shopping at a Rockauto. Doing a front end rebuild in the spring and will be Ray Professional Grade or Deeza (based on above post)

Think about it- how can a commoditized part like suspension be 1/2 or 1/3 price but be the same quality. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I cheaped out on some very important parts

If it is a Raybestos "Premium Grade" control arm, it is a good choice. I have used Raybestos suspension parts before and they are high quality, and have a great layer of paint to prevent rust.

However, I think Raybestos "Service Grade" is just another generic part.

I would go OEM if there is no Raybestos Premium Grade or Moog that fits.
