Nascar

I generally like NASCAR in person more than watching on TV. It’s hard for me to watch on TV. I know nothing about the engines they use or anything like that though not something I study but sounds interesting.

I just like the day in the 60s and most of the 70s when you were able to see the cars actually look like the ones on the road....Plymouth...Dodge..Ford and Mercury were all easy to tell....now it is a cookie cutter car...

They're not really cars. Their scenic representations. The headlights, for example, are painted on.
Also, the engines are low tech wonders.

Took the Indy tour back when coins had silver. We went around the track in a VW Transporter (microbus to some).
As you'd expect, the banked turns made everyone go "Wooooo.."

edit: What's COT?

It has been getting boring lately.

Kinda related but not, I really liked the IROC series. Especially the Trans Am’s.

Would love to see a NASCAR series where they use actual manufacturer engines. GM LS, Ford Coyote/Modular or Godzilla, Toyota iForce V8 and if Mopar was still in, the Hemi. I don’t care if they have blueprinted blocks, or what heads, performance parts, etc. Build they comparable and to a certain HP/torque spec and for longevity and have the certain engine characteristics shine or not depending upon setup and track.

Didn’t the IROC series basically use a modified LS2 at one point?

Car of Tomorrow. NASCAR’s car/chassis plan. COT is two generations old by now. It was their Gen 5 car. They are now on Gen 7 called Next Gen.

What's COT?
As mentioned car of tomorrow. Its not that it was just the next generation and look the same, it really limits what adjustments can be made - it all must stay in Nascar's "window". So back when crew chief / driver communication was key, now everyone runs more or less the same setup with minor adjustments. Was supposed to make it cheaper for everyone, but they essentially took the car out of Nascar.

Sports on TV has always bored me. But I like going to a baseball game and have been to minor league games like the Toledo Mud Hens and the Columbus Clippers. I've also been to the Indy 500 and enjoyed the experience.
Wonder if you should take your Wife to Tucson this fall for a quick vacation to see Mexican Fiesta Baseball games. I have never been, but people that have state it is a great time:

I'd rather have a colon exam than sit through a baseball game. We're all different. Last NACSAR race I went to a drunk guy nearby stood up and yelled and spilled beer all over every time Mark Martin came around. It's been a while.

Rewind to 2008 and I am at the Busch Clash. Four good-ole-boys in front of us had on what today would be $1000 Nascar fan jackets. They turned around and not one of them had a tooth. Thank God the Funnel cake aroma from the concession below was stronger than their B.O. Oh well, They were having fun

Nascar was good once upon a time. COT was the final straw. When was that - maybe 2005? I stopped then.

The Jordan lawsuit is legit. The France family have monopolized and ruined it. I hope he wins.

I knew after Days of Thunder movie things would be not be the same.

There’s a reason why so many racetracks have empty seats.

The 1980’s NASCAR died a long time ago and today it’s more of a boring soap opera.
