I recently purchased a half dozen napa proselect filters and I'm not really sure of the quality has anyone here had any bad experiences with them, can't say there the best looking filter but for $1.89 well I couldn't pass em' up.

It seems that maybe the Pro-Select may be the replacement or a name change for the NAPA Silver line of filters.

They are probably a descent filter, especially for the price.

One thing I noticed is the the O ring that seals the filter to the engine is much larger in diameter and that the holes seem to be spaced much further apart than the last couple of filters I have tried + the dia. of the holes seem to be smaller.

On the box is says that there made in the UK so I take it there not wix?

Can anyone tell me how to upload an image and am also looking for a good image host site.

There can't be too much difference in the gasket diameter if it's the same (equivalent) filter. The gaskets between your old and the new should both cover the same turf. Some are slightly wider than others (thickness between OD and ID) ..but they have to share the same area a good bit (minor exceptions exist).

Your # doesn't work with the Wix site directly ..but it works with Baldwin (which calls it a NAPA silver)

The B301 in Wix (just to get gasket sizes) which says Subaru on the Baldwin site

Are you sure you have the correct filter

The 21334 is the correct filter for the application. One interesting thing is that if you buy the individual boxed 21334 it is made in the U.K. We buy them all in what is called master pack. These are made in Gastonia, N.C. at the main Wix plant. I think that the one made in the U.S. looks like it is built better. You are right on the gasket diameter. Thee is actually quite a difference, even between the filters built in the US and overseas. The overseas filter has the bigger gasket, and the strange inlet holes, it is also a little longer.

Sorry,
Forgot to answer the main question. Yes, they seem to be performing extremely well. We have been using them for about 3.5 mos. now and have cut open several, even with extended drains. None have shown any problem. They seem to have much more media than others in that price range, but have threaded end bypass valves in many applications, and spiral wound center tubes for most GM applications. We have installed about 4000 Proselect filters and are extremely happy, much better than the Champs we were using.
