my first C&P!

filter has like 600miles on it as it was whatever they did before I bought the car, I am assuming conventional 5w30 oil from my 06 Highlander 3.3 v6

looks fine (as it really should), some of the crud is from me having to use a band saw to finish what the tailpipe chain cutter couldnt finish

put on a XG3614 and 5w20 Supertech High Mileage Synthetic

I have like 8 or so other filters from other cars ive been saving to cut open, ill get to them in due time

That filter has been discontinued. The new ones have changes for the better.

There's been some complaints here on the new NAPA oil filter designs. Some are fuming about the new NAPA Golds, which look flimsy and cheap.
It took me 11 pages of going backwards to find the Napa Pro Select thread here. I'm too lazy to dig another 11 (or more) for the Napa Gold redesign mention/thread.

In another year, when my supply runs out, I want to try filters I've never purchased before..... just for kicks.
Bosch Distance Plus
STP XL.

Been positive reviews that have me interested.

I read this board regularly, never seen any those for NG. I must have missed all of them. Using NG haven't experienced it either.

Only "new" Napa Gold spin on design change I've seen is on the new Wix 51334/1334NG made in S Korea. I've seen no complaints about them, quite the opposite, comments seem positive.

Of course topic filter not a Gold filter but jobber tier made for NPS, which for what it is looks ok.

I guessed you missed one of them anyways Sayjac. 99% of folks have no idea if there's internal issues with their oil filters anyways. Prior to this new design, there were plenty of knocks on Pro Selects too.

I never "miss a pass" on reading ALL the posts on NAPA, Fram, Purolator, Wix.......etc..... filters. I click-on this site 5 times per day average.... 24/7. Nothing slips by me, like it might-have-done you. But be my guest and take a look-see back 1-20 pages back. The info you missed is there somewhere.... because I read it here already.

Some of us retirees rather come here, than watch what my wife loves most on TV these past 4-5 weeks..... around 6 seasons of Father Brown Mysteries on Netflix...lol
Sometimes she watches three episodes per day. The only oil Father Brown uses is on his bicycle.

As I didn't make the claim about some nebulous new design Napa Gold, I'm not looking/searching for anything. So to be clear it's now down to a complaint of one "new" design Napa Gold spin on that can't be found. Got it. When you find it post it, until then I'll put it under the category of hearsay. Even if found one anecdote doesn't make any kind of a trend.

And ProSelect jobber tier is not a Napa Gold, the latter being Wix with a Napa label. So NPS irrelevant to the mystery new design Napa Gold spin on.

Dont worry about seven, he rambles like always. I have used Pro select, Napa gold, Auto Extra all without issues. I'd even use the new Hyundai filter napa sells that was posted

+2 Sayjac. Spot on!!! I'm glad you set the record straight in a well constructed and polite manner. A history of problems with Wix Premium or NAPA Gold just has not materialized.
