NAPA Gold or Fram Ultra?

If there's space to accommodate a slightly bigger around filter, Rock Auto has the Fram Pro Synthetic (Shop version of the ultra without the grippy paint) filter model FPS3593a for only $2.42/pc, so you could buy like a dozen of them and they'd only be like $3/pc shipped.

I agree, I just ordered one of these the other day and for what you get the price cannot be best.

Here is a 5% discount code for Rock Auto: 0F2051D17C52B6

They both use synthetic media, that is about all that makes them "equal."

At this point I don't see how the Napa Platinum/Wix XP performs in any way that can be considered equivalent to the Fram Ultra/Titanium performancewise.
Looking for some information then on what are the numbers which make the Platinum a poorer performer?

Their construction, metal end caps, and wire backed synthetic media, and a silicone adbv.

Construction is not something I would disagree with and I previously made reference to the fact that both used synthetic media. Apparently what some may take issue with is what I said about how each filter performs and I do think that the Fram Ultra/Titanium offers superior performance to every other comparable oil filter currently available.

NAPA states their platinum filter removes 100% more dirt than their 19 micron gold filter. If what NAPA states is true, on what basis do you believe the Fram ultra is superior?

Actually the claim is, "Up To 100% More Dirt Holding Capacity Than NAPA Gold." You may be confusing filtration efficiency with dirt holding capacity which are two different things. The Napa Gold has an 18 gram rating while the Platinum has a 32 gram rating.

I am not seeing a 19 micron rating ascribed to any Napa oil filter. Their Gold filter is rated 99% @ 23 microns, the Fram Ultra/Titanium is 99% @ 20 microns.

1. I would think holding more is removing more.
2. I wonder what the error of margin is between 20 microns and 23 microns.
Suffice it to say they are both fairly decent products when it comes to oil filtration. Anything more is splitting an already split hair.

Call them and see. Too many people are throwing out different numbers like usual around here. Regardless, they are a good oil filter.

Yes, give WIX a call and ask them what the ISO 4845-12 efficiency is on the XP (same as the NAPA Platinum). Many here have called them and asked. WIX will tell you the XP efficiency is "propriatary". Before the efficiency became "propriatary", it was advertised as 50% @ 20μ on their website. Who ever heard of an oil filter's efficiency as being "propriatary". 🤣

When you don't want to tell the truth that could hurt your sales that's when its proprietary. They don't want to compete and keep up with the Jones they just want to keep the bottom line is at no cost in improving their product. If that fool told that there would have been some disappointment when I said that's to bad I can't buy your products anymore.

And you would be completely wrong.

More holding is just the capacity to store removed particles/dirt. Think of it as a bigger trash can.

So a filter with more capacity can be left in place longer all other things boing equal.
LOL........Whatever.
