Off of dads 2011 HEMI RAM pickup with QSGB 5w30. Put another NAPA GOLD filter and more QSGB 5w30 in and on. Truck has only 30,400 miles on it also

Filter looks good. Typical Wix quality. I use the 7045 on my GM 4.8. Same filter just the longer version. Thanks for the C&P.

Is that extra glue in the seam?

1 X

The 7045 fits almost everywhere a 7060 will, so 7045 is all I use now, Highly recommended. Thanks for the pics.

Now it looks like the filter cartridge Toyota uses instead of a spin on filter. Why did they do that? Don't they know it bothers me?

Just picking your brain Car51 - why the NG 7060 instead of the 7899?

The NG 7899 / Wix 57899 / CQ Blue 84899 is what's spec'd for my 2012 5.7L Hemi Ram.

I put a bunch of the CQ 84899 in my stash. That part number was discontinued when CQ switched to Purolator so when you find them they're either WIX or Frampion vonstruction - no Putolator! Cheaper than NG 7899 too, plus you can use AAP discount codes.

Good question, he gets this filter from local NAPA store; I guess it works good so why not

Yeah, lil bit of glue there. I was surprised

Napa needs to cut back on the glue on the seam that connects the ends of the media. That said, the filter looks OK.

As always, thanks for the C&P Car51! Speaking on behalf of all of us BITOG'ers, I think it is safe to say that we enjoy your posts. It takes time to cut open filters, snap pics, and then post online. Thanks again for all of your posts!

Thank You my friend; you are a gentleman and scholar. Much appreciated and I'm glad folks learn from my "autopsies" LOL!

HAPPY FRIDAY everyone

This Wix/Napa Gold has actually a decent micron rating. It's rated 95% at 20 microns and 50% at 6 microns. Some of the Wix/Napa Gold oil filters are rated less than 50% at 20 microns and I would avoid these. fortunately you can check it on their Web site before you buy it. Moreover, Wix XP/Napa Platinum has apparently only 50% efficiency at 20 microns according to Wix technical support but no data on their Web site is provided.

Fair enough. Just that the NG 7060 is a reduced size filter (3" diameter, 3" tall) instead of the NG 7899 (3.67" diameter, 3.74" tall) for his model year, like maybe a jobber would have on hand to avoid stocking two filter sizes. The 7060 is the size usually used on later models with electric power steering, due to less clearance for getting the filter in & out on those models. Just FYI y'all could be using a full size 7899 filter instead.

Here the 7060 & 7899 are both $7.29 at NAPA, the Wix 57899 is $6.99 at O'Reilly, and the CQ Blue 84899 is $6.49 at AAP while they last. With a 30% off code, the CQ Blue 84899 is $4.54. So there's more filter available for his application at equal or less cost FYI.

Well, he found he can get a WIX 7899 for $4 at mom and pop parts place in his town. Said he may get one of those next time. Yeah, newer RAM's use the PH 48 filters I see

With a diameter of 3.67", that is going to be too wide for the GM spec'd 7060 or 7045 sized filters. I know a filter any wider than the 7045 would not fit on my silverado.

Well the discussion revolves around the OP's dad's 2011 Ram 5.7l Hemi truck which is very similar to my 2012 Ram 5.7L Hemi truck, and I have no problems using the 7899 size filter - crosses with the factory Mopar MO-899 for these MY's.

Not sure where you're going with applicability to a silverado? Please explain.

As Nyogtha already stated; this about RAM HEMI pickups. Could care less about GM and their shenanigans
