NAPA Gold 1515 C&P

On the cutter today is a NAPA Gold 1515. This filter comes off a Mastercraft Prostar boat w/ the 351w engine. I just purchased this boat and went through all the filters and fluids.

This filter crosses over to a Motorcraft FL1A and WIX 51515. The oil was unknown. The OCI was unknown. I have records of an oil change in 2023. The oil looked brand new.

Overall, the filter looks good. It is a M+H filter, but has holes instead of louvers. The media is evenly spaced, no excess glue, but does not have a crimped seam. The media seems thinner than other filters I have cut open.

If anyone has future oil filter recommendations, let me know! I intend on through some filters from PGI into my next RA order, but could be swayed.

Here are the pics!

Ford Motors does like the base end bypass. Not sure what would have that except Motorcraft. Maybe Wix does too. Doesn’t have to be base end but that’s what they promoted at one time.

Only downside is no PG filter with silicone ADBV.

Now, I can get a CQ Premium, which constitutes a PG filter with silicone ADBV, just not from RA.

I searched PG part numbers that only had a basic filter mapped to a vehicle or filter cross on the PG website, and there are XC placeholders. I would assume that PG plans on expanding their catalog since they're making premium filters for the U.S. part houses.

I hope they do. I have other vehicles that I want to use PGI Premium filters on, but can’t because they aren’t being sold. However, I just found out my Rural King offers the new M1 filters.

Date code on recently purchased Wix 51515 (made in USA, center tube with holes, base end bypass) is 072424C2. These are identical to what OP has posted.
