looks like Mann and Hummel are making changes to the 1348 filter. Different base plate, louvers, and top end bypass valve instead of base plate bypass valve. I’m sure the quality is still there, just caught me by surprise. Even the 7055 filter has louvers now.

It looks just like the last one that I put on my 2017 Ford Escape. That was a year ago before I traded it for my 2020 F-150.

Bean counters for sure I hope they don’t ruin the brand. I don’t care about the louvers or the base plate change, but I buy Wix specifically for the base plate bypass
WIX has been going away from the base plate end bypass valve for quite awhile on some models.

Purolator cheapened them..
Other than having the same parent company, M&H, I've not seen that Puro US manufactures any Wix labeled/Napa Gold application. Beyond that even with dome bypass, base plate doesn't look like current Puro US construction. Wix been moving to louvers for awhile now eg. 5/7356. And dome bypass from thread end not huge deal imo. If they do away with the spacer, could be plus with larger element.

Bottom line, even the change to dome bypass I'm not seeing anything to be concerned about. Wouldn't change my NG purchase habits.

Doubtful the Wix equivalent 51348 any different, at least on same/similar manufacture date. My .02

The baseplate design, date code format, and bypass are typical of Purolator and not Wix.

Oh s$&@ I may have to return it and get the wix counterpart

It will be the same as the Napa Gold because Wix is Napa Gold.

Instead, get Wix XP/Napa Platinum, They have not been Purolated :)

Nope. Baseplate very similar to previous 1348 as posted HERE. While a tad different, still much more Wix/Napa Gold. Outer retainer ring separate from rest of base. Puro all one piece.

And you are quite obviously very unfamiliar with the Purolator date coding. It's been posted many times this sub-forum with decoding and it's nothing like the one on topic NG. Typical Purolator date code with decoding posted HERE, and many times since. Topic filter code typical Wix/Napa Gold format, read directly as written on can 02/04/21. Always been that way on the Napa Gold I've used.

As noted, bypass in same position as Purolator and many/most others, including your beloved Wix XP/ Napa Platinum. ;-)

As I said, fairly confident topic filter still made by Wix, just a change of bypass position.

I’m aware that they’re made by wix but the 51348 has the baseplate bypass with 6 holes

Ran out to the garage to look at my case of 1516. Dated 7/23/20 is the older Wix style. I guess we've learned nothing new *shrugs shoulders*

I would not have thought to check until I saw this thread but I ordered nine Wix 57055 filters from Rock Auto recently and have used one so far which had the round holes on the center stack that I was used to seeing. Today I checked all eight other filters and they all have louvers!

I just got Purolated 😐
