A few simple facts should be included in the digressions we see in this thread.
First, it is always cheaper to buy fresh chicken, fish, pork or beef and prepare it at home. Steam some fresh vegetables or make a salad and you have a satisfying meal.
Second, fat is what gives food much of its flavor. This is neither good nor bad but simply reality. This is the reason that dark meat poultry is more flavorful than white meat poultry. This is also the reason that a ribeye or a T-bone is so good, or that a slow cooked pork shoulder or beef standing rib roast is so flavorful.
Third, both the fast food purveyors and the lead chef at your local fancy sit-down place both know that salt is a potent flavor enhancer, so they use it liberally in preparing food.
Finally, it isn't so much a matter of what you eat as it is how much you eat. Keep your calorie intake under control and you should never have a problem with excess weight or belly fat.
