My visit to Chik Fil A

It's all just junk food and, respectfully
Not recommending any, but chick filla is no worse than everything in the frozen food section, or the deli section, or the canned isle, or sit down places like chili's or deny's.
Everyone blames big Pharma, doctors and the medical establishment
Doctors are very different than big pharma or the establishment. However even doctors went along with the food pyramid, telling us seed oils were better for us, and not to eat eggs. 🤷‍♂️

It's amazing how everyone has such a different experience, I've very rarely if ever had an issue at a Culvers but Freddies here just sucks.
I ordered a single hamburger meal at Freddies one time, everything was good except there was no meat in the hamburger (where's the BEEF)
All in how they are managed.
Yes, all boils down to local management. In fairness I have tried only the local Freddie's and its decent during the week. Weekend it seems to get over-run and slides. Maybe 4 of Culvers - all sucked - large enough sample now. :ROFLMAO:

The absolute best "fast food" restaurants were the original Hardees in some small towns in SC (Hardees originated here) that still sold there original fried chicken and mashed potatoes and Gravy. I haven't seen one doing that in years. I might have to start looking again.

I do not agree at all. This is an excuse for some Americans to continue to ignore what they put in their mouth.
Mass Media loves to attack quality cold cuts. It's part of the corporate model. Canned foods much much better, frozen foods much better. Key is read what you eat (not you personally) Most of all, good food is cheap, people make excuses to be lazy and have someone make this junk for them.
Sorry. I love USA health care, if people have a problem with it, they need to look at what we eat as a people. Simple, eat Whole Foods.
Forget the food pyramid as an excuse. EVERY American KNOWS snack food it no good for them. YET, they compromise, 70% (?) of the isle space in supermarkets. Why because that is what people buy.

Here is the Chick-Fil-A much loved chicken sandwich that everyday, EVERYDAY Americans line up for. It's BS that they need to pay and eat this garbage, when for less money they can eat so much better. Can of Tuna, can of chicken? Home cooked hamburger, 1/4 of deli roast beef or turkey has far lees junk in it.

This is a chicken sandwich *LOL* !! throw in the soft drink, fries, chicken nuggets and wonder why your kids hit puberty years sooner *LOL* and blame the medical establishment for your ills.

Who takes it upon themselves to look at what they eat?

Understand, but two-thirds of the list are the ingredients for multiple types of buns.

A can of chunky soup or a frozen TV dinner are no better. Likely has more than a days worth of salt in the one package and nothing but carbs. Frozen peas are OK, but no one is eating a bowl of frozen peas. Again, not saying you should eat any of it.
Key is read what you eat
It really doesn't matter. If you didn't make it yourself from scratch it likely isn't good for you. Thats the simple truth. Even a "salad" now is some packaged lettuce and a handful of shredded carrots. May not do you harm, but hardly high nutrition.

I am not defending any of it, but to say its purely fast food companies is a farce. Most GMO or insect resistant crops are way lower on nutrients than what our ancestors ate. The FDA, industrial food companies, big ag, and medical community that prefers the high profit treatments of the symptoms are all in on it. IMHO.

I will add that in Germany McDonalds French fries are potatoes, oil and salt. Thats it. As regulated. In USA its like 30 ingredients. To say the government isn't in on it is a farce.

Regarding canned food, much better, frozen too, best of all you can see the ingredients right on the package.
Here is a can of Sams Club chicken. cost maybe $2 (I forgot) has 4 servings, can of Costco tuna, 1 serving $2 far superior than any fast food.

An inconvenant truth. ANYONE (no matter what the media preaches) of any income level can eat healthy compared to corporate fast food and for much less money.

You're talking prepared canned food. I am not. You do have a choice.

I’m assuming you don’t live in Bellingham

My wife wanted ketchup we asked the bag girl if there was ketchup inside she said YES. Nope
Chick Fil A started by us - and the food was good, hot, and fresh. The service exemplary. Exceedingly polite, quick and accurate.

Clearly, that franchise near you is not what we had in the South.

Drive through one in Virginia Beach, experience the contrast.

Oh boy, if you click on the link I supplied above. You select all their products one by one. Those are the ingredients>
Here is the link to the chicken sandwich

What about those "Chicken Nuggets" ?

Ingredients

Chicken (boneless, skinless chicken meat breast nuggets containing up to 17% solution of water, seasoning [yeast extract, onion powder, sea salt, garlic powder, sugar, salt, corn maltodextrin, gum arabic, natural flavor, lemon juice concentrate, vinegar solids], chicken flavor [chicken breast meat, chicken stock, salt, maltodextrin], modified corn starch, dried vinegar, apple cider vinegar, water, soybean oil, sugar, cane molasses, salt, spices, chicken fat, dehydrated onion, yeast extract, corn maltodextrin, lemon peel, dehydrated garlic, red bell pepper, paprika, parsley, xanthan gum, natural flavor [including smoke] and calcium disodium EDTA [to protect quality], high oleic canola oil with dimethylpolysiloxane added to reduce foaming)
____
Never mind the sugar, never mind the molasses, corn starch, CORN MALTODEXTRIN, mentioned many times> Do a search of what this stuff is. It gets you addicted and why you feel so satisfied eating corporate foods. The sugar rush of which maltodextrin is the hidden gem for a corporation in addition to all the sugar and corn syrup products.

Maltodextrin is a name shared by two different families of chemicals. Both families are glucose polymers, but have little chemical or nutritional similarity. The digestible maltodextrins are manufactured as white solids derived from chemical processing of plant starches. They are used as food additives, which are digested rapidly, providing glucose as food energy. They are generally recognized as safe for food and beverage manufacturing in numerous products. Due to their rapid production of glucose, digestible maltodextrins are potential risks for people with diabetesContinued in Wikipedia

In Salt Lake City, Chik Fil A is the highest quality restaurant for the greater SLC region. The second best restaurant in SLC is the Costco food court.

Guess dining choices in Bellingham must be outstanding for Chik Fil A to be rated so poorly by you.
Or the Bellingham work force isn’t up to Chick Fil A standards of accuracy, efficiency and politeness….

The only reason people think the food is good is the chemicals and sweeteners added to the food that has your brain addicted. No different than cigarettes

Over and out... much till you crunch,

Your saying that fast food is evil, but the grocery stores sell the same slop. Doctors and the FDA have given countless series of bad advice on things. You give all them a pass.

Everyone blames big Pharma, doctors and the medical establishment for everything wrong in the system. When it's the people that feed them.

Yes everyone is responsible for what they eat. You simply attack one group while the rest are same IMHO.

The food pyramid becomes important during times of shortage and poverty, it was created during the reality that we didn’t have adequate animal protein production.

my farm friends told me to buy a commercial box of instant rice, a commercial bag of beans, a commercial bag of rice and plenty of cans of meat within the next 3-4 months. Calorie wise you will want at least 6 months of food.

I’m not a prepper type but it might be worth having some cheap calories laying around for 6 months from now just considering weather + no plants going on.

I’m tempted to till the flower garden and plant radishes, onions, potatoes and squash like my folks used to do. Small space but they just spread out to pick.

I never said any different. The thread is about Chick-Fil-a
I mentioned supermarkets comprise 70% of shelf space to junk food. Bottom line is ALL Americans can eat reasonably healthy for less money. Dont people realize corporate junk food works on a 500% or so mark up?

I mention fast food because unlike supermarkets they do not offer healthy options. Such as healthy chicken, or promote a glass of water instead of a soft drink. Never mind the massive lines of cars outside their establishments. All these people are hooked on on thing. SUGAR. Many people in supermarkets make their own food from more wholesome products then the ingredient list of any fast food place.

That is an excellent observation, something I clearly missed.

We ate at a Las Vegas (New Mexico- not Nevada) Blakes Hamburger chain for lunch on Friday.

Order two hamburgers, one normal, one plain. Two drinks, one ice tea and one fountain, and a side of mayo. An order of fries.

Burgers came out both with stuff on them (no plain), no mayo received, the iced tea dispenser was never put in the dining room. The man taking the order was very nice, but gave zero confidence the order would be filled as requested, and it wasn't. The funniest part was three large dogs tried to enter the restaurant, and were stuck between double doors. Reasonable to assume the dogs were stray, and they have figured out a way to get fed (Jane wanted to give the dogs our leftovers).

I wonder if Chik Fil A could maintain a staff to their standards in Las Vegas, New Mexico..... The man that waited on us sure seemed to be on a substance or had has brain impacted by a substance earlier.

I agree BUT we didn't eat in the car. Strictly verboten!

EDIT: I recommend Taco Bell if you are on your 3-4th day of constipation. Butt you will need to replace your septic, or if on sewer, bill is going up.
I see what you did there Mr T 👀

Mmm. Black beans are awesome and healthy. Rice is a filler but seems to be a better filler. Add some fresh made salsa and tostones and you have a tasty and reasonably healthy meal for almost free.
