My visit to Chik Fil A

Mmm. Black beans are awesome and healthy. Rice is a filler but seems to be a better filler. Add some fresh made salsa and tostones and you have a tasty and reasonably healthy meal for almost free.
More of the shelf stable aspect, we are apparently in a tomatoe and kiwi shortage. (Our cousins subs has a 2 slice max tomato limit due to shortages)

Rice is just a convenient way of storing raw calories

Designed by white people, for white people. :p:ROFLMAO:
I'm white people and I don't like it.

Sam’s and local grocery will have them then be out weeks at a time for a while
Well good to know. I can get a couple weeks worth at the coastal produce locally. Can get some green ones and let them sit out, and some in the fridge.

If the price goes up that will be good for the local farms, so I am OK paying more. They use old school buses with the top cut off to haul them for some reason?

Being in the northern Midwest may now be a factor, you are correct that the greenhouse folks will be at the farm market soon.

Every couple of weeks, Chik-fil-a sends a food truck to my small city/town. It has a limited menu, but the same friendly employees. If I happen to be driving by (and hungry), I'll pull over. There is almost always a line, but service is quick. It's always hot and fresh, but like some others here, I remember it being better.

I once thought of Chick-fil-a as "GIRL MALL food " as I can still recall my girl friend in the 80's going on and on about how she and her mom had Chick-fil -a at the mall... You would pass the food court back then and would see table after table of mother and daughter and few if any dads eating that stuff...

I remember thinking a pice of chicken and 2 pickles on a dry bun... and eating at the mall in the food court? No thank you but I LOVE it now!

As far as it once tasting better I recall reading ( link below ) the Chicken was changing back in 2024...

Chick Fil A is some of the blandest food I have ever eaten at a restruant'
Somehow, they got the whole hype thing down. It's a self fulfilling prophecy, famous for being famous.

I see Culvers has a line. IDK if it's the love of slightly upscale fast food fried chicken and being the anti-KFC anti-stereotype fast food chain?

It's addicting and tasty for some and OK to eat occasionally. It was an experience when I went, all the bustling but food was OK, better than regular fast food and hit the spot.

This coming from both of my daughters', it is absolutely "GIRL MALL FOOD" and it having a religious backing sits well with a lot of people.

Popeyes is better, KFC is better, Raising Cane's is much better.

It is bland feel good chicken for the masses like I said made by white people, for white people who don't use salt or pepper.

Cane's has absolutely fallen off on quality - much more than chick fila. Right around the same time too. Odd? It used to be pretty good although I never liked the Cane's fish sauce and there honey mustard was terrible.

Haven't touched KFC in a couple decades? Have they gotten better?

Never been to Popeyes. Might have to try.

A few simple facts should be included in the digressions we see in this thread.
First, it is always cheaper to buy fresh chicken, fish, pork or beef and prepare it at home. Steam some fresh vegetables or make a salad and you have a satisfying meal.
Second, fat is what gives food much of its flavor. This is neither good nor bad but simply reality. This is the reason that dark meat poultry is more flavorful than white meat poultry. This is also the reason that a ribeye or a T-bone is so good, or that a slow cooked pork shoulder or beef standing rib roast is so flavorful.
Third, both the fast food purveyors and the lead chef at your local fancy sit-down place both know that salt is a potent flavor enhancer, so they use it liberally in preparing food.
Finally, it isn't so much a matter of what you eat as it is how much you eat. Keep your calorie intake under control and you should never have a problem with excess weight or belly fat.

From dark meat it’s not just the fat. Skinned cuts of thighs and legs have marginally more fat. But it’s the higher collagen content that adds more flavor.

No one has mentioned the only fast food place I'll go to - Jersey Mike's. The freshly sliced meats and cheese really make a difference, excellent sandwiches and I can have a filling meal for under $10. #13 on wheat Mike's way 😋

I like Dunkin breakfast sandwiches too.

Have to agree the turkey sandwich at the Costco food court is great too. Unlike Panera, they actually put turkey on a turkey sandwich!

The one here in the NE side of the KC metro is nasty according to several reviews from friends and family.
