Just got this after saving up for a few years. Worked the dealers and got what I consider a great deal, so I am stoked. First voyage is going to be to N Florida during spring break. Eventually we want to take it on a long trip to Wyoming.

What will be towing that beast?

I assume you are an adult. So what adult goes to FL over spring break? I thought only college kids went to tan and drink beer?

Enjoy the beast.

I am bringing it to the scale next week but factory has it at 12004 with a gvw of 16500.

Nice rig. Have you been happy with Keystone? Where are your favorite places to go?

Go ahead and do yourself a favor and reseal EVERYTHING on that thing. Our family business is RV repair and over half of the ones that we repair are due to inadequate sealing of windows and vents and such on the roof from the factory.

So far I have been happy with Keystone. Time will tell as I have it in for warranty work right now. Small goofy stuff. The large slide hangs up, the fridge dosen't sit in the hole straight and 1 decal is peeling. I think all TT/5er are built about the same fast with lack of attention. No Biggie.
We bought it last year and have camped about 50 nights in it. Has been great.
Scaled truck and trailer loaded for 5 days of camping I was just at 14800 total. Trailer was under 7500lbs loaded.

I am up in Washington State lots of great places to camp. Took my old setup to Yellowstone 3 years ago. I like the Grand Tetons better. We are planning a trip to Yellowstone with the new setup this summer.
This was in St. Regis, Mt.
Big Poo and Harvey the RV. They were trusty!

Nice. We considered class c for a bit. There are some really nice units out there. That is made by Gulf Stream right? Is it diesel or gas? What are some of the places you take it?

It is a Gulfstream and very nicely laid out. I can winterize the plumbing in 15 minutes. It has a 454 gas engine that gets about 7.5 to 8 mpg (biggest drawback). Paid $25,000 for it in 2007. It is a 2000 and had all of 9700 miles on it when we bought it. Very clean. The couple that had it before us divorced and then it sat for about 4 years down south before someone drove it up north and sold it.

I really like Class C. They are easy to drive and on the road you hardly know you are driving more than a standard full size van. I had a Class A and absolutely hated it, but for the engine access was really nice. We have been a number of places including Montana, Wyoming, N and S Dakota, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. Shorter trips such as in upper Michigan, and one trip up and over Lake Superior. Couple trips down south, five trips to Florida (our only winter trips), a trip to Shenandoah National Park, and a trip to Arcadia National Park in Maine. We had a popup at one time, but didn't like it. We never camped but just stayed in campgrounds and moved on, so the motorhome was nice for that.

Sounds like you got a good deal and are getting great use out of it. Like I said we considered class c. Like you I think they have the best of both worlds. They are drivable but not so freaking big that you can't take them anywhere. I am going to have that issue now. This new trailer is very large, but for the next few years it is going to fit our lifestyle. We have a lot of stuff to put in the garage and routinely are going to sleep 4-6 people. Once the kids have flown away I see ourselves in something similar to yours.

I can't wait to start exploring more of the country. So far we have limited ourselves to FL, GA, NC and VA. Now we have to trips in the works LA and WY. My wife went to school in New Orleans so that is why we are going to LA. I actually like it there a lot.

If just me and my wife, I would go to a 21 footer or even a Class B Conversion Van. Your 5th Wheel is nice because you can unhook and cruise local attractions or restaurants in the pickup. Another advantage of the 5th wheel is you can get a manual transmission. I do wish they made more Class C's with the pickup front, there have been a few, but they are rare. Not all those trips were in this rig because I had a Damon Escaper Class C (1990 460 Ford) before that.

Enjoy! I'm idly tossing about the idea of an A-Liner or other smaller hard-sided popup that can be towed by a car or minivan. We looked at a few over the summer, and came away impressed with how much space one had inside once the walls were up.

Plus it is much better than sleeping on the ground. Which I still do from time to time, but only when going up the side of Mt. Rainier

They make a smaller version of the trailmanor I have pictured in my first post. It would easily be pulled by a minivan. Heck, you could probably pull mine with a minivan.
These things really are light and they tow great. They are really expensive new, but there are great used deals if you are patient. I got mine for a steal on ebay, I was the only bidder LOL

Here mine is closed

And open. It was after a 100 mile bike race so forgive the mess

This is the main reason I have not purchased a Travel trailer yet. I read too many horror stories about roof leaks on fairly new trailers that already require replacement of part of the roof due to rotting of the wood.

Anyway, enjoy that thing. It looks very nice.

We have literally rebuilt the walls, floors and rafters in campers and motorhomes that are only a year or two old. Its a good practice to check all the possilbe leak prone areas often.
