Did a designer quit at Mitsu, and get hired at Ford?

Seriously, Mitsu started this angry murderous fish trend, which was uber disappointing. Then Nissan of all people scarred the GT-R with it... now Ford is all about this nonsense. Someone please make it stop!

Sure about that?

The only thing scary about this car is going to be the price...Not your average Focus $15-$18k....

WHY??

Pretty much EVERYONE (even your HIGHLY critical/biased Top Gear rag editor heroes) who has driven the RS/RS500 versions with 300+ HP to the front wheels has been shocked at the lack of torque steer, and equally shocked at the incredible handling balance/attitude of this platform due to the front suspension geometry/setup.

The '11 RS500 is going to have 345+ HP to the front!
Now that will be "verrryyy interesting" for even the AWD Nippon and Teuton 'rally cars'.

Ford and GM are definetly doing a dance, and they are doing it together:

- Ford drops the rear-drive/V-8 police car package just as Chevrolet debuts a V-8/rear drive police car;

- Ford debuts a turbocharged 250 HP compact just as Chevy drops a 260 HP turbocharged compact car.

They'll get back on the same page soon enough.

From what I hear and read, GM is working on an Aveo SS AND a Cruze SS....kinda surprised they would have SS versions of both of them. Anyway, hopefully they will both be of similar "strength proof" as the Cobalt SS and the HHR SS.

I've been predicting the end of this protracted horse power war for a few years now.....and I've been wrong every year....lol. Really, it looks like it's just getting it's second wind, it even survived an energy price crunch. I have to wonder where it all will end.

But I LOVE IT!.....

Was never a fan of the colbalt but I am really starting to like to looks of the Cruze. They seem to be doing very well in the BTTC championships. A hopped up cruze would be a great shot in the arm for GM in N/A. Maybe GM should also bring over this from Europe Chevy cruze hatchback

Don't worry, he's just upset that it will kick the behind of ANY/EVERYTHING FWD from his beloved Japan.

wrong as always dailydriver, life's too short for front wheel drive, IMO.

Hopefully it will have an option of 6 sp auto w/paddle shifters (like Fiesta). Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to trade up (wifey can't drive manual).

Thats why people have a two car or three car or more car garage....lol.

Lifes too short to just drive one car everyday...expand your horizons man. I own plenty of RWD iron, and still own a econobox at all times. Man, honestly pocket rockets are a blast!

A few years back I owned at the same time an 03 SVT Cobra and a 02 SVT Focus...Eight times out of ten when I left the house it was the keys to the Focus that were in my hands...that car was a blast to drive and I didnt have to worry about piling miles on my Cobra. Plus with the Blizzaks mounted, it was also fun and safer to drive during the winter around here. The right tool for the job is an invaluable asset.

It looks to be a great car, but the Mazdaspeed has more than satisfied my desire to own a FWD hot hatch.

I almost got a speed3 before Mazda took away the APlan purchase plans. IMO the Speed3 is an awesome car, in that class, the only other I would consider would be the GTI.

That sounds like it was the perfect combo to own!!

It would be like owning an '11 Boss 302 and an '11 RS500 coupe (if we could only get that monster here

) today.

It was a fun few years....Now I'm "stuck" with two GM's a 2006 GTO and a Chevy HHR...not bad, but I'm itching to get back in the seat of a Ford. I still have my old Windstar and my beater F250...but I havent had a new Ford in over 5 years. Too long for this Ford man to be out of the loop!

I like the design of the 2012 Focus (regular) and I like the engine in the 2012 Focus ST. That front end puts me off...might have to settle for the smaller engine.

I'd really like a 2011 Boss 302; my last Ford was a 1984 T Bird Turbo Coupe that I drove from 1994 to 1998. It was a nice car, even if I did have to replace the intermediate clutch cable one a year...

To be fair, these are more along the classic roadster kind of grilles instead of the downward-stretched frown mouth, and the Jag grille is higher up and CHROME! How can you not be classy with teh chrome?! Hehe, but seriously, it sort of works for these design examples. I think Ford should probably definitely tone the downward angled loach mouth a bit before bringing it here to NA. Or people will start seeing this:
BassLargemouthStuck20060706GU.jpg

Aside from that, I'd like to get my hands on the 2.0L "EcoBoost" engine... just the engine. On paper, it's basically the 2.3L DISI with the shorter 2.0L crank. Also curious who Ford is going along with for engine management? I'd imagine a MoTec system like the regular Focus, and I'd be totally interested learning a MoTec GDI system
