A hand-held mail-order tune is completely worthless. The only proper way to tune a car is on a dyno with an oxygen sensor plugged into the exhaust (not a probe up the tailpipe - you need to have a bung welded into the exhaust header or collector).

I've seen three 2004 Mach 1s dyno completely different air/fuel ratios with exactly the same modifications. Not exactly good for buyers of pre-loaded tunes. If you can't afford dyno-time at a shop with lots of experience and a sterling reputation, leave your engine computer alone.

Besides the real possibility of Ford voiding your warranty, any PCM updates mandated by Ford Motor Company will be uploaded to your engine computer, erasing your "flash-tune" and unmarrying your hand-held computer from your car.

What an appropriate name for a pre-loaded tune: Bama. The operative portion of which is "bam"!

I saw that Motorweek special. My wife wanted one, in green. I told her only I'll gladly get one for her once the house is paid off. :)

I say go for the 5w-50 product after you put a good supercharger on there. How much does a S/C kit cost for that car?

A tune from a reputable tuner like Bamachips or Brainspeed can get the horsepower and torque to within 95% of a custom tune. Good enough for a daily driver. It also increased my MPG with both city and highway driving. It will greatly improve throttle response and auto trans shifting. A dealer can deny a claim if a mod is the cause of a problem. There is no such thing as voiding a warranty. Some people on this forum have claimed a warranty can be voided if you don`t keep receipts for oil changes. With the proper procedure, I can reinstall the stock tune to my car for any mandated PCM updates from the dealer and go back to my performance tune without the tuner getting "unmarried".

You may not be saying that if/when gas is over $4.00/gallon!

I checked with Tremec and the company confirmed the transmissions installed in 2004 and newer cars were updated.

That said, the 3650 is fine as long as you don't speed shift or make a habit of doing burn-outs. Use the specificed ATF fluid in it and DO NOT OVERFILL. If you insist on playing Idiot High School Drag Racer, get a Tremec T56 to replace the 3650.

The 3650 in the new 05-09 cars were assemble with problematic parts as well, and Ford issued TSBs to repair the issue.

The new 3650 has been able to handle 550 crank HP no problem with the 05+ Mustang. We kinda love twin screw superchargers =) and no one in multiple forums yet has destroyed one on less than 15 PSI of boost that I have read about.

Yeah, the T56 is wonderful, and I had a built one in my 99 Trans Am. I sure as heck miss my 6th gear. Darn you 3650!

That's only for the Shelby GT500 Mustang with the supercharged 5.4L engine. The original posters "Bullet" only has a naturally aspirated 4.6L and a factory recommended 5W-20 fill.

I too have a Bama tuned car for 93 octane with the C&I CAI kit, and WOW what a difference. Seems the drive by wire system left more toys on the table for tuners to play with and make improvements. It's not just in fuel and timing anymore.
