My LIFTER TICK has been ELIMINATED!! Yippie!!

My Legend has 208k miles on it and the lifter tick was getting worse and getting to bug me.

My solution to lifter tick was to use Auto-RX. I followed the directions here (www.auto-rx.com/pages/applications.htm ).

During the 2500 mile Clean Phase, the lifter tick actually became slightly more noticable, it sounded like things got a bit "looser". Maybe because 208k miles worth of oil build-up was getting cleaned away. I continued with the entire 2500 mile clean phase.

After the Clean Phase comes the Rinse Phase of 3000 miles. This is where the sludge/build-up/grime get liquified and rinsed off into the clean host oil. Well, I am now only 1500 miles into the Rinse Phase and my Lifter Tick is now completely gone.

I am very happy with the results, I wasn't really expecting much change at all with Auto-RX becase it was the first time I had even used it.

Auto-RX doesn't claim to be able to fix mechanical wear, but it does promise that it can clean metal and liquify carbon buildup. Once all that crud is washed away, the motor oil will be able to lubricate properly and in the case of my Legend, the cleaning allowed additional oil pressure to the lifters that eliminated the tick.

congratulations! It seems to have done similarly well in my 91 BMW, which had a tick that develloped after changing oils (some junk got loosened and ended up in the hydraulic lifter???).

Glad your issue is solved.

I've used it twice in my Jetta diesel and it really makes a difference!

I had a Festiva with 225k miles on it that had every HLA ticking loudly and one collapsed HLA. ARX cleared them all up, though the colapsed one failed 25k later. Only needed one HLA rather than 8...
