...just got taken out of service, all vehicles with spin-on filters are now using Royal Purple synthetic filters, the Pentastar gets a P1 cartridge. This P1 was in my '66 Polara (440 Magnum clone engine), and only had about 2500 miles on it But it was installed in December of 2010(!) by my records. I have picture below of the date code so someone can see if that makes sense, or if I missed noting an oil change in the log. Its been known to happen, and 2010/2011 were years where I was preoccupied with my folks' health situation.

Anyway, (spoiler alert) there's not much to see. Ugly wide pleats by the (glued) media seam pleat, but no tears. No leaks, no openings, no nothing. One place where the glue was allowed to spill over the edge of the endcap, but it was tight and wouldn't peel loose, as well as being on the 'upstream' side of the media.

Date code and can:

And the media package with the seam pleat centered:

End-cap, ADBV (background) and bypass valve:

Media package, opposite side from the seam pleat- note a glob of glue slopped over the edge of the end cap:

Maybe the not most aesthetically pleasing at seam pleat, but no tears and 2500mi. 3&1/2+ years, got the job done.

Not sure what second letter is though. If B, it's Dec 2010.

Thanks for the pics.

Looks like I at least put it in fresh... ;-)

I hope to drive that car a lot more in coming years- I've got an electrical project to do (clean up all the custom wiring for the electric fan, fuel pump, modified ignition, and 160A alternator, including a relay block and 3 terminal blocks) and then some polygraphite front bushings. Its already got a new steering box, ball joints, and tie-rod ends. Life just de-railed me for a while there...

It looks like a U, but that didn't make sense. A is 2009. Maybe this is one of the first new yellow P1's of 2009 that was made under the previous blue P1 date code. All I can think of.
