I've really loved this forum since I discovered it a few weeks ago.

I was due for an OC, but it kept getting put off since I can't do it so easily any more (no more garage and tools and pans now that I live in a small apartment). While I was procrastinating I used BITOG to research a new fill for my truck.

It ran on regular Mobil 1 5w30 for about 160K of its 215K+ miles.

It uses some oil but I don't think its blow-by, mostly seeps.

I'm lucky to have a retailer that carries the FullSyn MaxLife, so that's what went in (@ OEM spec weight, 5w30). No change to my habit of WIX filters though.

I'll be logging my top-offs from now on to see what my consumption really is, I'll be interested to see if the MaxLife helps matters.

My planned OCI on this fill is 6K. Temperature conditions here are ideal for cars, and my commute is moderately severe (little highway, 12 miles each way to work, stop and go).

Everything sounds good!

I'd go a little further on the full-syn Maxlife. It will easily do 8-9k, but that's just me......

Incidentally, I was *just about* to start running on GC, which seemed to be the best Full Synthetic available to me around here when I found out that our O'Reillys (well, Kragen, here) stocked the fullsyn MaxLife.

I'd still be interested to see how my 350 likes the GC, and if I don't love the Full ML, or if it gets too hard to find, I may try the German juice out.

Question, why did u change from m1 to Maxlife, I have 200,000 miles on an 2002 dodge van, Mobil 1 10w30, no oil usage, and I carry alot of freight, usually 1000 to 2000 lbs in the back alot.

@CourierDriver-

Good question. I believe in full synthetics, but with my oil seeps (light dripping, but the valve covers are not the source), I wanted to give a High Mileage oil a shot. The MaxLife is well-liked here on BITOG and I was able to get the FullSyn locally.

Whereas, no one around here stocked the Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30, only the 10w30, and I didn't really want to leave spec weight, even though the climate here would support it (no sub-freezing starts).

Nothing against M1, it hasn't let me down even after two cracked radiators over the years, and the resulting *HOT* motors.

Cheers!
