My dad died this morning

So sorry to hear this. My grandmother died earlier this year with a stomach cancer, and was under hospice for a number of months. near the end she was medicated daily on morphine to deal with the pain, and I do not see that as the reason for her death, but it was sad to see her get a bit loopy on it (though it was good to see her in less pain).

Such a touch thing, and it is easy to be mad or want to blaim certain things. I just hope that you celebrate his life and remember the good times, not the end state.

All the best for getting through this tough time in whatever way you need to.

Very sorry for your loss Bro. I lost my dad due to bone cancer last December. We were all with him by his side when he passed. He was 76. I miss him every day.

Mechanix, so sorry for your loss. My father died October 10, 1974 and I still miss him everyday.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

I am really sorry to hear that. I lost my dad 2.5 years ago and I still miss him. Probably always will since he was my best friend and a great dad as well..

I am sorry to hear about your dad it will leave a empty place in your heart no one else can fill.

Thank you everyone for your very nice condolescence so far. I want to offer my condolescences to those of you that lost loved ones as well.

I don't want to talk about hospice in detail and realize results may vary but to put it mildly what they generally do and in my Dad's case is start morphine then other sedatives and death shortly follows. Your loved one might not be in much pain or suffering at all and may have months or a year or more before pain, suffering and natural death may occur. They decide when it's time to terminate and they make it happen and there's not much you can do. I don't want to discuss that anymore but just wanted anyone that may be in a similar situation to give that serious consideration.

Anyway thanks again everyone.
