My dad died early this morning. He had lung cancer but wasn't that bad but hospice medicated him under. I visited him yesterday and they had him in a medicated induced coma basically. It was an aweful sight to see. He died early this morning and I knew it was going to happen. To make a long story short, if you want your loved one to live more than a few days and to be able to say goodbye to them, keep hospice away.

I am very sorry to hear about the news. I couldn't imagine what you are going through right now.

My sincere condolences. My own dad has been battling cancer since last spring. He's doing well, but he also reminds me not to let Hospice near him if things go bad. I know many people who have felt that Hospice has done a lot of good for their loved ones, but my previous experience is that they tend to rush toward the end too fast in some cases. Yes, keeping a patient comfortable as death approaches is important, but expecting a miracle that maintains LIFE is even more desirable, and in my experience hospice doesn't try to think that way.

My dad died just over 5 years ago while under hospice care, at home. I had the time to say good bye and make peace. I still remember the call I got from my mom at 8:15am, tell me that "he's gone". I was lucky that I had a time frame. Yes, it hurt when he died and it still hurts, but I laugh much more now when I think of all the good times and what I learned from him. I just hope that I can be the father to my son like my dad was to me.

My sincerest condolences to you and yours. Death is not a welcome visitor at any time, but over the holidays makes the festive season a whole lot less festive.

I have no experience with Hospice, what is this?

God Bless you and your family in this tough time. He is in bliss right now, this earth and life is a tough one mixed with blessings so try to count them and appreciate them. I have to remind myself of that everyday. Sorry for your loss.

You have my sincere condolences. What happened to your dad really hits home since I found out last Sunday evening that my cousin, who is my last remaining relative, has a rare cancer that cannot be treated. Really devasted me so I can well realize how you feel.

My condolences. I lost an Uncle who was very close to me last month to stomach cancer. Hospice "helped".

I understand what you and your family is going through.

Dave

Oh man, I am so sorry to hear this!

My dad died of cancer Dec. 16, 1994. It is a horrible way to go.

Stay strong, and hope your Christmas is a calm, comforting time with your family.....

My condolences buddy

So sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in April of this year. Hard to imagine, but each day gets easier a little at a time. God Bless.
