Mandatory collision prevention will eventually stop this, but it will be a long time before older cars w/out this tech are off the road.

I drove a Subaru with eyesight automatic emergency braking for a while. It worked pretty well except in snow storms or thick for it would randomly engage the brakes. It also didn't help when I had to stop quick because it was a little slow to react, so I would see something happen and hit the brakes and then a second later the car would notice and fully lock the brakes up, even if it was just a car turning in front of me and there was plenty of room to avoid an accident. Eventually I got used to pressing the gas and powering through if it tried to emergency break for a wisp of fog or other non-obstacles.

The system probably will save the life of some car-texters but I didn't like it.
