Not a bad car has the best heater ever the a/c is marginal.
Doesn't smoke or leak original everything always serviced at the dealer.
Got 306,000 miles on it has a 2.0 beta II engine I know nothing about these engines or hyundais in general I've had it 18 months.

Those engines were pretty much bulletproof. I had an. ‘02, and The A/C was the coldest I’ve ever had in a car. At 300k it wouldn’t surprise me if your compressor is just plain tired or worn out. You’ve had it 18 months and relatively trouble free I take it?

I've replaced both cv axles, drivers side caliper and hose and 4 tires, new battery last month a group 26R it fit great and was cheaper over the original option.
Its been reliable.

The 2.0 Beta II engine is tough as can be. My 2010 was seriously neglected on oil changes by the previous owner. Got it at 112k miles and you could see the dirt in the oil and feel it with your fingers off the dipstick. Its at 161k miles now and runs like new. The engine is much cleaner now that I have owned it. Change your oil, keep a good timing belt on it and it will last you long past the rest of the car.

These were great cars, the high point of Hyundai.
I'll agree with the former and disagree with the latter. Occasional engine woes aside, Hyundai really woke up with the 2010 Sonata and went ballistic with the 2013 Santa Fe (both the short and long wheelbases). The Genesis Coupe (not yet the Genesis brand) was also released around that time. Whatever teething problems they might have, they are the ones that made Hyundai a major player.

Major to a point that they can now experiment with extreme design ugliness and still sell, which seems to be the main prerogative of every major player, unfortunately.

Before Dieselgate, VW's main "gate" was when their boss got...errr...annoyed at the Frankfurt Autoshow in 2011 when he visited the Hyundai stand and sat in the i30. Video here (credit to Tom's Guide).

My dad had one of these for many years. Overall a good car. Had well over 100K when it got sold in 2019.

Did replace the CV joints and timing belt at one point. Seemed to be hard on engine mounts as I recall. Easy to change oil and ATF.

I've got an '05 as my daily driver. It's a very comfortable car that's easy to work on and parts are still available for the most part. Just replaced the brake booster and hose on it this weekend.

I had to replace one engine mount so far under the car near the exhaust.
