Musk Says Tesla ‘Dug Our Own Grave’ With The Cybertruck

I watched that. Oh boy. He has some serious issues, and it seems things are coming at him faster then he can handle.
+1 His tilt light was on, big time. I'm no fan of Disney, so I did like his special wave to Bob Iger.

I like Musk in some ways, I like that he is vocal about what he stands for. Im actually glad the "X" is now in his hands.
I cringed too when he spoke of advertisers but you know what? Good for him!
Many people and surprisingly even in here are a bit used to going with a narrative. This guy stands up to and SAYS what he thinks is right and could care less what others think. I wish there were more like him.

Some in here even think I am against Tesla, Im not, Im against $7,500 that is given to his company.

Freedom of speech isn't the same as freedom of speech devoid of consequences over said speech. Jury is out on how much of an impact it will have on him. He's really creating an issue for NASA. They can't do business with a company whose CEO is perceived to have anti-Semitic tendencies.

I generally do not like people walking neo-nazi line.

like when he called professional divers rescuing kids trapped in a cave pedofiles?
because they said his submarine idea was not viable
half the time he opens his mouth I cringe
At that point, he was supposed to go down. But, it was: hey, he is a genius. So what?

Calling something Nazi that is far from it shows intellectual laziness. I have previously avoided this conversation because of the political overtones, but the Nazi comparison is over the top.
I'm not going to try to defend everything Musk says. He doesn't need me to do that. I do think the American public owes him a great debt that can never be repaid by eliminating clearly unconstitutional government censorship of at least one form of social media at great personal cost.

After more than 4 years, the specs are largely worse than they claimed.

11,000lbs. towing (they said up to 14,000)
2,500 lbs payload (they said 3,500)
Up to 340 miles range (they said OVER 500 lol)

And how does it have way less power than X/S Plaid?

Rivian and Silverado EV destroy it on range, and so will Ford T3

I‘ll definitely buy a Tesla in the future.

Will Elon’s crazy comments recently during the interview with CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin at the 2023 DealBook Summit drive people away from the Tesla brand ?

Although the first examples of the Cybertruck are now in the hands of what Musk promised were real customers, just 10 left the event. The company says that production difficulties mean that it will take it until 2025 before full-scale production is running. In the meantime, at least the people who put in a pre-order know what they’re getting now.

So its a redo of the last event? And the rwd starts at 60k instead of the really nice 39k that drew alot of the initial fanfare.

For a first for Musk, v2L will be available

To be fair I thought the marketing term was always Armor Glass. That said this is Elon marketing 101. He’s said before that they’d promise things in development before the tech fully existed. He just fell short across the board.

I like Tesla. I don’t preorder or put deposits on anything. I’ll buy something at its merits. I know especially if I did order a Tesla before production that some disappointment is coming my way. Most are this way though. I know a guy that cancelled his Ford Lightning order for the price adjustments.

I doubt Tesla can make a Cybertruck profit in 18 months. As a major capitol investment, that would beat just about any completely new vehicle introduction. Look at the billion$ everyone else is losing on their EV endeavors. Ford is losing billion$ on the Lightning and they have been building trucks for almost 100 years. GM was losing $9K or more on every Bolt they sell.
CNBC said Elon looses $40,000 on every Cybertruck he builds.

Certainly far off the claims. Especially when compared to GM's offering of a flat out massive 212KWh battery, it does seem that the CT falls short.

Yet, when compared to what we know about battery energy density, overall vehicle weight and pickup truck energy requirements, the CT is almost exactly what many of us expected. Maybe even a little better. Tesla would have to install 220++KWh worth of batteries to make it any where near their claims. If they can find the room to do it.

None of this is easy or cheap.

I’m amazed it’s under 7k lbs. It may be the only thing they did right.
