Any Mount Airy, NC dwellers? visited a few times and really enjoyed it. I would consider living here love the quiet laid back feel and vintage atmosphere of the town. How’s the schools? Guess I would also consider Pilot mountain and surrounding towns pretty much the Surry County area. Was speaking with HR for the county possibly a maintenance mechanic position pays low medical questionable but what else is new the days of NYS employment are over I gave that life up. Lol

Everyone was Happy in Mayberry because no one was married, except for Otis - and he stayed drunk all the time!

Mt. Airy is always one of our stops when doing the Blue Ridge Parkway. We went one time when they were doing the annual "Mayberry Festival" (or whatever they call it). They had a bunch of actors/people acting as the town's characters. The Otis character was by far the funniest!

I was always partial to the character Ernest T. Bass and the Darling's. Denver Pyle's character of Brisco Darling, Jr. was amazing. That show had a number of up and coming actors on it including Jack Nicholson, Buddy Ebsen, Bob Denver, Terri Garr and Don Rickles. I will say Otis Campbell was a hoot.
