Planning to flush my coolant this fall. Capacity is 12L and the spec calls for G12/G12+/G12++.

I see that Motul sells a compatible coolant called Inugel Optimal Ultra (meets G12/G12+). There's of course the OEM Pentosin-made G12++ too. Is there any reason to select the Motul over the OEM Audi stuff? Price difference is negligible. Motul's literature shows a slightly higher boiling point at 50/50.

Also, is 50/50 appropriate? My car does see track time and I drive it hard. It's an S4 so there's a huge V8 under the very tiny hood with 3 radiators. It's garage kept and never sees temps colder than -10 F.

If you run much less than 50% antifreeze, the corrosion protection will be decreased. Even in warm climates you should run 50/50.

Also, (I don't know if this is the truth or not; someone posted the article on here about 2 months or so ago) I've heard that if you go with a higher concentration (than 50/50) of coolant, you will actually raise the freezing point of the solution, as contrary/counter-intuitive as that may seem.

According to the Motul spec sheet:

% coolant / freezing / boiling
33 / -8 / 269
40 / -22 / 273
50 / -42 / 277
60 / -65 / 282

(at +1.5bar)
